Shane Started moments ago... The hitchhikers guide to the galaxy by Douglas Adams

It's a brilliant book. Have you read any by Terry Pratchett yet. They are kind of similar.

Well I think so but of course sense of humour is a personal thing! When I listen to discworld books on my iPod I laugh out loud while I am walking along the street!

What a great idea Phrynne, funny books on audio would be hilarious! Something else I'll have to try :)

Nicola (sn295) | 30 comments I'm reading Pride and Prejudice. I'm halfway through and I'm really enjoying it.

message 4060: by Simone (new)

Simone (simoneg) Currently reading '1788' by Watkin Tench - a first-hand account of the First Fleet's British settlement of NSW. It has been republished as a Text Classic and is amazing. Interestingly, it includes references to a young indigenous Australian, ill with smallpox, who is 'adopted' by the first surgeon of the fleet, and who is the subject of Jackie French's adolescent fiction, novel, 'Nanberry'. It also presents some interesting insights into the contemporary views of indigenous cultures and their interactions with the Europeans. Highly recommended to anyone interested in Australian history.

Yeah it's everywhere at the moment.. Not usually my kind of thing but was interested to see where JKR had gone next, and I'm pleasantly surprised, even if the content is a little harsh at times.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9976 comments LOL!! I just realised that my two current reads are absolute poles apart in quality and content! My bedside read I'm attempting Fifty Shades of Grey whilst my main read is the soon-to-be-released Flight Behaviour. A little taste of Kingsolver magic: "His moustache made two curved lines around the sides of his mouth like parentheses, as if everything he might say would be very quiet, and incidental."
