Hi Marianne, I have fixed the book for you:) Linked on the RHS under 'other editions' is the old book title, but I have left a message in the librarian group for someone with more expertise than me to fix that one! (It might be fixed by the time you go there!)

I'm about to start The Killing Hour by Lisa Gardner.

Ainslie Paton (ainsliepaton) | 11 comments Oh Oh Oh. Sam Di Britto's Hello Darkness. Sam was probably a couple of years behind me at school and writes about where I grew up in the time I did it. As a consequence of that and incredible 'licking toasters in the bath' turns of phrase I loved it.

Must say though someone did a rough edit on the Amazon copy. A change all instruction changed the word 'four' to 'flour' so there are lots of references to, you guessed it, 'flour o'clock'. I hope someone has told Sam - he'd be horrified.

Just finished The Golden Compass. It was OK. I have had to read in little bits because of being so busy with other things, so maybe that made it seem slow, but otherwise a good book.

I'm sorry, I couldn't read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I got about 45 pages in, had already started skimming before then...so incredibly boring IMO, but I appreciate others love it.

I have started Vanish by Tess Gerritsen which is much more my cup of tea!

Maggie I've had a mammoth read the last few days - The Art of the Islamic Garden 5 stars, Morocco: Dream Destinations Straight from 1,001 Arabian Nights 5 stars, Let the garden go; a romantic approach to gardening 3 stars, and still reading (altho nearly finished) Who Fears Death.
I'm thinking of starting my spring challenge with Madame Tussaud: A Novel of the French Revolution.

How do I mark it any other way? I couldn't find what else to do....

message 2581: by Michael (new)

Michael (knowledgelost) Under 'My Books' click the edit bookshelves button up the top left. Go to the bottom and create a bookshelf thats called Abandoned or Couldn't Finish or something like that. Then find that book shelf and mark it as exclusive

message 2587: by Michael (new)

Michael (knowledgelost) I'm actually enjoying it, I like the different perspectives of the characters. While most of the characters are annoying (especially the men) it's interesting to see how peoples perspectives don't match the others version of the events.

Yeah I’m one of the few that really like it. Not many of my friends actually managed to finish it…..they couldn’t get past Harry’s chapter. If you’re interested, I’ve just written something down in my review as to why I like it so much……It’s only very brief though :)

message 2592: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Lamperd I've just finished reading Noah's Compass by Anne Tyler.
Liam Pennywell has spent most of his life dodging issues and skirting adventure when suddenly at 60, after two failed marriages and three adult children, he meets a younger woman.
A wonderful readable book. I loved the character of four year Jonah, Liam's grandson, who makes a brief appearance in the book.

David (ozhaggis) | 5 comments Half way through The Heart is a Lonely Hunter. One of the best books I've read for a while. It would take an absolute literary disaster in the second half not to make it to my favourite books list.

That said, I'm putting it aside to read something else - in honour of BANNED BOOK WEEK, I have decided to read The Satanic Verses.

I attempted The Satanic Versesa few years ago to find out what all the fuss had been about. I don't think I got past the first 2 chapters. Ho hum!
