What Are You Currently Reading? (doesn't have to be an Aussie book)

Anybody else read "The Help"? "
No, but it's on my TBR list, and I believe lots of other people have enjoyed it. Also I think a film has been made of it.

This group caught my eye..."
Thanks Maggie for the welcome. I'm glad your library has my books! My newest is in a Goodreads Aus only giveaway Journey by Night thought it's the final in the series so if you win it, you have to read the others first!!! :)
This group is fun!

There has been, :) it's still in theaters over here

Yes - I loved the book and saw the movie on the weekend - thought they did a pretty good job, but the book was outstanding I thought.

Good to see you liked it!

Went to the library today and foundMusic for Chameleons, The Baby in the Icebox and Other Short Fiction, Serenade (following on from the 'hard-boiled' type of James M. Cain and an attempt to see if i'll like more of Truman Capote) and I Am Legend(i love reading original books with movies based on them, always fun to compare). :D

That I am, lol, my mom never understood that about me but I will literally not do anything until I finish a book I am reading if I can help it. For example from start to end it'll only take me about 2-3 hours to read a 200 page book :) And the fact that I can read up to four different books at once confuses my mom even more

I loved Mildred Pierce, he has a real way of making characters you love and hate. I don't know how he does it.
I hope you enjoy I Am Legend, it's different to the movie

I don't know if its a good thing or bad thing. I think this is one of those books I'm never going to forget

what a great phrase ... another book to add to my TBR list!

The barbed wire heart on the cover is the same as the one for

Me too, with 30 minutes to go.

Just finished I Am Legend now and have to say i prefered it to the movie "I am Legend" (will have to view The Omega Man to compare as well). Great read!
started
...and then had to go to work...now home from work and on good reads...maybe ill never get the spring and sep challenges finished lol

:O yay thank you Michael I am reading it now

The writer not only discusses the main female character but also the authors and their lives, many of which were quite fraught. I'd read seven of the twelve books discussed and now want to read the rest.

Have just started reading A Race for Madmen: The Extraordinary History of the Tour de France. It's really fascinating what the early races were like.

New reads are: Wolves Among Sheep

Haha, I've had years of practicing it and it's actually pretty easy to do if they are all different in content :) When they are similar stories then it's a bit harder but still do-able :D Haha, but I do not have much else to do with my life at the moment so it keeps me sane

Haha it's ok, I've tried to teach my brother how but I failed haha, it just takes hours of complete boredom of having no life whatsoever to sit there and be bored with a stack of books that are due back within the week Lol

The Rugmaker of Mazar-E-Sharif
Loved it"
yes, that was very uplifting, if I recall

Yes, I thought Brenda might be a fixer.....

I've half way through My Name Is Memory

Catching up on a few magazine articles at the moment before I start on The Book Thief.

Fiona, my daughter's currently reading my copy ofThe Book Thief, really enjoying it so far. We have many in this group who have read it and most..."
Carmel, I'm going to read it because my 16 year old daughter read it for school and loved it so much she never stops nagging me to read it. :) I just hope I love it because she will be bitterly disappointed if I don't.

Why on earth do they get to read it for school?!?! That is so unfair! I want it for school :( Right now Im writing my essay on our latest class novel, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. Its an amazing book, but on a different level from The Book Thief.
Im glad you're enjoying it :)
Right not my copy is with my best friend-we have a similar taste in books and recommend stuff to each other. But he doesnt like it :( Upsetting.
