★ Jess | 3071 comments Not sure what to read now? I'm tossing up between:
Life of Pi by Yann Martel
In the Winter Dark by Tim Winton
The Regulators by Stephan King
The Tales of Beedle the Bard by JK Rowling
Coraline by Neil Gaiman
and finally, A Cafe in Venice by Dorian Mode

Has anyone read ANY of the above? Im honestly stuck with no idea or preference. Those books are as different as can be.

Sorry Jess, I haven't read any of them...but have Life of Pi on my TBR list (own it)...I'm sure The Regulators would be good, being Stephen King...but Neil Gaiman is extremely popular at the moment!!! Big decision :)

message 2213: by Adhityani (new)

Adhityani (dhitri) I have decided to do a reading marathon and finish three non fiction books about climate change, considered the climate change "classics"l, before the new term starts next week. The books are Tim Flannery's The Weather Makers : How Man Is Changing the Climate and What It Means for Life on Earth, James Hansen's Storms of My Grandchildren: The Truth About the Coming Climate Catastrophe and Our Last Chance to Save Humanity and Nicholas Stern's Blueprint for a Safer Planet: How to Manage Climate Change and Create a New Era of Progress and Prosperity. It will be interesting how all three compare.

Melina Marchetta's Saving Francesca, On the Jellicoe Road, Looking for Alibrandi. I've only listened to the first one, but she is Carmel's favourite YA author, and highly recommends her to everyone.

The first one of Matthew Reilly's I read was Scarecrow..I really enjoyed it, so kept reading the others until I came to Seven Ancient Wonders...that one slowed me down somewhat, in that I have The 6 Sacred Stones and haven't read it yet.....I'll get to it one day, but those two were soooo different from the first few!!

Melanie, is King Arthur: Warrior of the West as good as the first book in this series? Havent read any yet but am seriously contemplating moving it up the TBR mountain.

message 2243: by Maggie (new)

Maggie I've had a few days off reading following finishing Neverwhere which was just so good! Definitely get a copy and read it if you havent yet.

Thought I'd start Before I Go to Sleep next, or maybe Divergent, or maybe one from my pile of book challenges books. Can you tell I'm unsure??

Have been concentrating on finishing my final assignment for the course I've just completed, so once that is out of the way (and it must be getting close) I'll be able to read to my heart's content. Love that feeling when you know you are about to have time to read without being nagged by all the 'actually really have to do's, cant put off any longer, assignment is due in a few days time' thoughts.

I actually have a pile next to my bed of books to read, which grows and changes each day depending on my mood. Just want to read! Anyway, off now to finish the dreaded assignment.

Adhityani (dhitri) I just finished Tim Flannery's The Weather Makers : How Man Is Changing the Climate and What It Means for Life on Earth and gave it four stars. Published in 2005, this is a climate change "classic". Here is my review: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

A little behind on my reading targets, but next up is another "classic": James Hansen's Storms of My Grandchildren: The Truth About the Coming Climate Catastrophe and Our Last Chance to Save Humanity.
