What Are You Currently Reading? (doesn't have to be an Aussie book)

Oh, that's good to hear...

Oh, that's good to hear...

I'm going to start My Favourite Wife tomorrow :) It's my last book for Autumn challenge. And will make a start on Just Desserts as well!

To both of you, Brenda, Lesley, I would say you do have to persevere, the start seems slow, but it is well worth it in the end. It may help to look at Wikipaedia on the history of that area if you're not familiar with it (as I wasn't). This was my first Kingsolver book, recommended by my book club connoisseur, (given I am the book whore), I did enjoy it very much and immediately wanted to read more of her work. My favourite so far is Prodigal Summer, but I have enjoyed everything she's written.

I went with my family to the South island last year - it was FABULOUS!!!

Hey, I've just started reading Poisonwood Bible too - pretty good so far.

'The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley is a good start. It's the story from the women's point of view, and really well done. Then for something completely different, read Bernard Cornwell's "The Winter King" - a more masculine version, but also a terrific series (3 books).
And then if you're really feeling inspired, go to the source: "Le Morte D'Arthur" by Thomas Malory, written in the 15th century. It's heavy going but if you get hooked by Arthurian mythology, you can't go past it. It's something you can go in an out of over a few years - 1000 pages of Middle English!
Bon voyage Melanie - you're in for a delightful sail, starting the Arthur stories!
haha thanks joanne, i have always loved merlin since i was little and saw the movie and then saw mists of avalon, but being only the movies and factual books on the legend in our house i never got around to reading any books im excited :D

That's great - you'll love it I'm sure. I can re-read some of the good ones almost yearly!

@ Michael...I was reading the blurb on Before I Go to Sleep today, and wondered what it would be like. I also have The Neighbor: A Detective D. D. Warren Novel on my shelves to read! Our tastes in books seem very similar ;)
Your review is excellent, I think I'll get this one from the library...
EDIT: I just reserved it at the library :)

Ha! Michael, I just read your review of Blood Vows, then found this comment! I'm #29 in the queue with the library, so I think it'll still be awhile. :( Your review was very good! :)
Haha its really good better then I thought it would be! Pretty sure ill be finished by tomorrow...well today seeing the time I guess lol
haha finished it in a day....so much better then i thought it was going to be :)
thanks for telling us all to read it jess lol

I finished reading Blackout and if I could put my reaction in audibles, it would be:
Aaaaaaaaargh!!!!!
I have given it three stars, because it has all the basic ingredients for a great read, but there were massive let downs in terms of plot and narrative style, I was overcome with frustration when I finished this book.
Aaaargh!!!

As I mentioned before, it's part of a 'duology' but the first book ended too abruptly, which leads me to suspect that it is merely one book chopped into two to make it sell better (who would want to buy a 1,500 page sci fi novel on time travel?).
Anyway, will move on to the next on before the month ends!

Wow..1,500page book O.O; I'd be scared of a novel of that size..haha!

I'm just reading My Favourite Wife. It's my last book for the Autumn challenge :) Only 2 bit weeks to read it though..Not sure I'll make it..haha. Anyways, it's alright so far but only up to page 60. I might take longer to read it because it seems to be a different sort of book from my norms but time will tell I guess for that :P
It's a book that has gotten some really mixed reviews from people on GR.

Hi Quetzi With No One as Witness sounds really interesting :) You seem to be a newbie...welcome to our wonderful group. It'd be lovely if you'd introduce yourself to everyone in the thread http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/3... as we'd all love to meet you :)
