I am reading the fantasy doorstopper Gardens of the Moon, by Steven Erikson. It's not bad. I like that the characters don't act like modern, middle class Westerners.
@Brenda It's there but listed with a huuuuge title instead of just 'Gotcha'.Gotcha How Australia's baddest crooks copped their right whack
And there is no cover I noticed..Not even sure if that long title is completely correct? I didn't enter it into the databases either.

I just finished Game by A.C. Efverman and gave it 5 stars - I loved it.Staying up late now reading The Beach by Alex Garland and although I strongly dislike the main character, I am enjoying the story
Please help me! I don't know what to read next. I've narrowed it down to Ruby Red by Kerston Gier, Cress by Marissa Meyer and Illusions of Fate by Kiersten White. Any recommendations?

Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier
Cress by Marissa Meyer
Illusions of Fate by Kiersten White
It's easier for people to check the books out for you if they're linked Jessica:) ("add book/author" in the comment box and follow the prompts)
But I'll choose Illusions of Fate for you:) I have a coin which I toss for people who can't work out their next read!

I came across a book yesterday, "The Things We Keep" by Sally Hepworth. I'd just finished a book, so even though I have around 500-600 unread on my Kindle, I bought this one and am halfway through. It's an intriguing concept, about two young people in a nursing home. The main character has Alzheimer's, and it's heartbreaking. I think this will be one I think about for a long time. The Things We Keep

I really like Weir being a historian, not sure what I think of her in the historical fiction field. Feels like she's lowering herself or something.

Marianne wrote: "I am enjoying immersing myself in the Todd family again with A God in Ruins"I read that recently, and I'm glad I did. Although I preferred the first one, especially once I'd read the end!
I've just started the year, and my Aussie reading challenge with The Rosie Project. I'm really enjoying it so far - 60 pages in and it has evoked a wide range of emotions, even the odd teary eye (when Don described a very special friendship), and lots of chuckles... Looking forward to Don meeting Rosie... The Rosie Project

I loved the ending to A God in Ruins. Such a surprise at least it was to me:)
Just finished The Lake House which also had a surprise at the end but it was really trite. Can't write a review yet because it would not be a very balanced one:(

That's a turn off :(
I have finished The Beach and I liked it. Now reading Killer's Island and it's slow going, the language is too stiff for my liking, I'm told it's due to the translation, but the story is quite good so will finish it to see how it ends.
I was planning to start on my next challenge read, The River House by Janita Cunnington but have been waylaid with writing late reviews :/ my bad! Will start soon :)
Just started ( about 50% in) on Grand Slam Kathryn Ledson - it is great - fun, fast, humorous and Australian
And still gave it two stars Kiera? When I hover over two stars for a book I see the description as 'it was ok'.
Looking through my history i noticed i slack off in reading some of the classics towards the end of the year so i'm tying to pump up the numbers at the start. Just finished Villette. Really enjoyed it, and now just starting Nostromo. I've loved the two other books of his (The Secret Agent was awesome) so have some good expectations!
I'm reading a fantastic collection of Irish folktales and it's the best collection of well-told and spooky tales that I've read -- and I've read a few lately including rubbish. Each tale has the flavour of a story-teller or a personal retelling. Totally gripping with explanatory notes. Loving it. Irish Tales From The Otherworld: Ghosts, Fairies And Evil Spirits by Bob Curran. Highly recommended.
Brenda - Do you have your lucky coin handy? Runaway Lies by Shannon Curtis or Iron Junction by Charlotte Nash

I haven't read any of her either Lily:)

I've just started reading The Man in the High Castle by Philip K. Dick as I recently watched the tv series, which I really enjoyed. I know it's different, but I want to know HOW different :)
I'm really loving Fever at Dawn, a translated book but so much more enjoyable than the last translated book I read. Text are offering a "Love it or your money back" guarantee, I reckon it's a pretty safe bet for them!
DH is reading a borrowed copy of The Road to Little Dribbling: Adventures of an American in Britain. I can hear him laughing out loud and he keeps wanting to quote bits to me. I have to stop him as I want to read it myself, thanks....
Ryan wrote: "I have a lot of study to do but I couldn't help myself. I just started The Martian."
That's your studying done then because that's one good book that you won't want to put down!

Finished The Earthquake Doll. A simple story set in Japan in1952. Recommend it to anyone interested in Japanese culture especially younger readers: Miyoko, protagonist, is 16.

Thanks Brenda and lucky coin :)
Any Michel Houellebecq fans out there? Just about finished The Map and The Territory. He's an interesting writer although his stories tend to fizzle out.
