Yes, knowing it's happening, and it's so unstoppable, must be terrifying and frustrating to a writer like TP, who's been so incredibly prolific. I read in one of his blogs that he was writing as fast as he could before it got to the point that he couldn't write any longer.

Lets hope that a lot of smart people who have read his books, and I know a lot of smart people who have, will get inspired to do more to discover a treatment, cure, prevention for this dreadful ailment which could help him and many others (including family and friends).

Yeah I'm just starting the third book of this series now. I like it. Not my favourite series, but I've read a lot worse. I'd be interested to hear what you think about it though. =)

o-o-o-o-k-a-y, I finally get it! I did read Twilight, way back when, before it was a hit anywhere, in an ARC copy. Thought it was addictive, but not great literature. That doesn't seem to have stopped anyone. I am pleased that something has sparked an interest in reading and fiction. When I began reading, bodice rippers like Angelique got me interested in reading, so whatever it takes...

Ooooh Mel, good pick! I have read that one and I remembered absolutely loving it. Won the Pulitzer in 2001, I think. Will have to re read that again and write a review.

I've yet to touch a Kathy Reichs book! We own a few when my father went through this spurt of reading..He bought quite a few books but then suddenly lost all interest in reading.

I think the reason I don't want to touch her books because I enjoy Bones on TV way to much. Dunno. Grr!

I've just finished reading This Other Eden by Ben Elton. I've enjoyed his other books but this one didn't really do it for me.

I've decided to move onto an Australian author and I'm now about to start reading The Easy Sin by Jon Cleary. I've read a few of his books in the past and have enjoyed them all.

I only just found out while updating his page that Jon Cleary had died last year aged 92. The Easy Sin is the 19th book in the Scobie Malone series of which there are 20 books. The first of them was published in 1966 so that's nearly 40 years of writing just one character. Of course he has written other books in that time.

Reading 'The Wrecker' by Clive Cussler and one of his ubiquitous co-authors. Early chapters in Cussler books always irritate me as they step through the adjective and adverb heavy, telling descriptions of each of the characters. But the stories are well researched, rock along - and keep you turning the pages. So far, 'The Wrecker' is proving true to form.

Actually, the reason I am reading the book is because I want to see the movie. Reason I got interested in the movie is because Jennifer Lawrence (Ree) is Katniss in The Hunger Games.

Secret River is on my TBR so good to know that, all of Kate Grenville's so far have been great. I loved the Lieutenant. And then will you please go back and finish Room so we can know what you finally think of that one?

Jessica, I saw the film first and thought it was terrific, then read the book, and thought the same. It's a great story, beautifully presented. I'll be interested to see what you think.

It wasn't an action movie, sure. I think I was in the right frame of mind for something slow and subtle! Jennifer Lawrence was excellent - I think she's a good choice for the Hunger Games.
