Oh pooh!
well, when you do get to it.....it's good!
Thanks :) I thought it would be! I hope it's there when we get home as I'm going to see him soon and would like his signature on both that and Crucifixion Creek
@Sally - Ohhh..I want to now read all other books by Lisa See since this one has really pulled me in..So far it's very chatty and each charter has an unknown about them which i suspect I'll soon know more about. Shame about Shanghai Girls tho :/

Currently reading Australia's Most Murderous Prison: Behind the Walls of Goulburn Jail by James Phelps
Kim wrote: "Just about to start Three Dollars by Elliot Perlman"Have you read his The Street Sweeper? It's one of my only two books of the decade.
I have a few books on the go as per usual:
Killer Summer!: A Sampler of Seaside "Shorties" by Sara M. Barton et al – I am enjoying the light and fluffy mystery/thrillers that all have a 'sea' theme.
The Ghost Bride by Yangsze Choo – she is a new writer for me – I am not very far into the story but enjoying it so far.
The Secret Chord by Geraldine Brooks – to be honest I have tried to read some of her previous books and they have all been DNFs for me (Caleb’s Crossing; March) – this is a review copy that I requested as I really liked the sound of the subject matter (King David from the bible - a historical look rather than a religious look) so I am really going to try. Haven’t got off the first few pages though – will have to make a concerted effort to get stuck into it this weekend because it has just been released.

My suggestion for TSC Sally would be to not read others at the same time...reason being it needs concentration and an indepth reading. I hope you enjoy...I loved it!

Have it earmarked for Saturday afternoon.
I've finished The Heat of Betrayal by Douglas Kennedy. No review forthcoming as I've been half reading another book, also based in Morocco, at the same time and managed to confuse myself a little. But happy to report, another 4★ book from one of my modern favourite writers.

I have started this morning Three Lives Down, the latest by Rachel Amphlett - right into the action!
RitaSkeeter wrote: "I'm reading Armada by Ernest Cline. I was concerned as it has been slammed a fair bit in reviews, but I think it's a whole lot of fun."That's good to hear Rita. I bought it too as I loved Ready Player One but have yet to read it.

I enjoyed all the cultural references in RPO - many going back to my teenage years!

I know, Brenda:) That will teach me to be greedy when I get a new book delivered.
Orange Is the New Black - I finished watching the series sooo I thought I'd pick up the book as I didn't realise the show was based on a true story...So far it's good! :DI also finished reading When Fraser Met Billy: An Autistic Boy, a Rescue Cat, and the Transformative Power of Animal Connections which I found I couldn't put down and raced through it.
I've still got two other books on the go as well which I've mentioned before.
Brenda wrote: "Maybe a re-read is in order Bette?"I think that's true, Brenda. But the other The Time in Between is over 600 pages and that would need a re-read too:(

Wow Sally!!
I've just finished The Time in Between which I partly ruined for myself by reading another book also set in Morocco at the same time. TTIB deserves to be read singularly. It provides for the reader a wonderful insightful look at Spain and Morocco in the 1930s, setting in place events the involvement of the Germans as they struggled to influence the Spanish government. In the middle of all this, is Sira, a talented seamstress who finds herself in the unenviable position of spying for the British government who are also jostling for Spain's favours. 4.5★
I am very much enjoying Recipes for Love and Murder: A Tannie Maria Mystery
but it's making me hungry...
Currently reading Natural Born Keller and loving it.I'm a huge Amanda Keller fan. Lots of reminiscing through the 70's 80's and 90's love it!
Started Watch the Lady by Elizabeth Fremantle: historical fact/fiction about Lady Penelope Devereux.
Brenda wrote: "I'm going to start Lost Girls by Angela Marsons next:)"I have that one too Brenda. Will have to read it before the end of the month - sounds good :)
I'm part way in and loving it Carolyn! Full on action the same as the first two in the series:) Kim Stone is a kick-ass detective!!
I'm about midway thru Watch the Lady by Elizabeth Fremantle; the story of Penelope Devereux, cousin and lady's maid to Elizabeth I. She was also the sister of Robert Devereux, earl of Essex who infamously plotted the Earl of Essex Rebellion and lost his head for treason. Essex implicated Penelope in the conspiracy but she was escaped punishment. Penelope was the muse of the poet Philip Sidney who referred to her as Stella in his sonnets.
I'm having an unexpected day at home, so for a change of pace I will dive into Deadly Messengers. Looking forward to it!
I've juest finished Mark of the Loon by Molly Green -- a light mystery, with moments of unexpected depth. Review pending. But I've just picked up The Quiet Woman by Terence Faherty and I'm IN LOVE with the writing. Maybe I should stop reading mystery fiction and start reading literary fiction (with mystery elements like this one). So far it's a delight.
