Two full days of other activities is playing havoc with my currently reading book!!! Plus the fact that it needs good solid concentration! Will get back into it tonight:)

message 12315: by Katie (new)

Katie Mineeff | 59 comments I'm currently reading Sleeping Dogs by Chris Simms (it's not on the Goodreads list). It's the last book in his DI Jon Spicer series and sadly, it has lost my interest. I really loved the rest of the series, especially the last one I read, Cut Adrift which I couldn't put down. I would recommend all the other books in the series without hesitation, but for some reason this one is just not working. I will try and get through it though, I hate half reading something!

Empire Day is on 24th May.
I only know this obscure fact because it's also my birthday and as a child I once looked up a list so see if anything important had happened on my birthday and Empire Day was the best they could come up with!

Really seems to have polarised people Leonie. I'm waiting for my hubby to finish reading it before I get to it, but could be some time as he's struggling with it.

I wonder if this will help Dale. I assume you are using the Goodreads App on your iPad. I found that to be a bit useless so I loaded Goodreads through the internet provider (in my case Google Chrome). This gives me all the same abilities as on my PC at home.

I also do that on my phone - hit the search button, type in Goodreads and up it comes. I then can go merrily from there:)

Jülie ☼♄  (jlie) | 6581 comments On my ipad I open into goodreads.com straight from the links in my emails...brings me straight into here where I just stay logged on all the time. No messing around with passwords etc.
I just close each tab as I leave and click onto the next email link...or sometimes for expediency I check the "g" at the top of the page for new posts.

If you get email updates of new posts then just click on the blue link that says: "read the comment on goodreads". It will bring you to that post.

message 12342: by Sharon (new)

Sharon | 5474 comments Dale - I use my IPad for Goodreads and I do it through Safrari which is an app that will already be on your iPad. You will not have to download an app as it should already be on your iPad. Just press on Safari and at the top type in Goodreads and from there you will press sign in just as you would on your computer and this will bring up everything on Goodreads just like on your computer. Hope this helps :)

message 12345: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 87 comments I was too lazy to walk to the next room and get my current read so I picked up a nearby library book to read while I ate my sandwhich at lunch - well I was sucked in from the very first page - it is great!

The Iron Trial a joint effort by Cassandra Clare and Holly Black is about a young boy who has inherited magical powers from his two parents. The book opened with a prologue where a heap of 'good' magical people were slaughtered including Callum's mother - he was the sole survivor. Now he has to go and do a series of tests to see if he will be admitted into the Magistraium for Mage training. His dad has gone into meltdown and insists that Callum does his best to fail - not a difficult ask as Callum has destroyed two tests so far. Am only a couple of chapters in and it is great!!

Yes, yes there are going to be Harry Potter comparisons - but what teen magical person who goes to a magic school isn't?

I received a paperback ARC months ago Carolyn and had only just decided to read it. It's not one you can read through quickly; the writing is so full of lyrical detail that it's astounding. I don't think I've ever read a book quite like it!
