What Are You Currently Reading? (doesn't have to be an Aussie book)
I finished Beneath the Darkening Sky earlier today. It's a very heavy book. Not one I would recommend unless you are interested in learning about the lives of rebel soldiers and how young boys captured from villages are mistreated and broken down to a point where they can be trusted by the leaders to carry and use AK-47's on other unfortunate villagers. There weren't too many rays of hope in this book.My next read (and which I think I will start tonight even if it's just for a few pages, despite the fact it's past my bedtime, because I feel the need to put something a bit lighter in my mind before bed!) is Corduroy Mansions by Alexander McCall Smith. I love his Botswanan series with Precious Ramotswe that starts with The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency. The jury's still out for me on his Edinburgh Isabel Dalhousie series - I've read The Sunday Philosophy Club and Friends, Lovers, Chocolate and they're OK… I'll read the third one sometime... And I haven't read any of the Scotland Street series (first book - 44 Scotland Street) - they don't appeal - I think I've read the first few pages... But I lived in London for a little while and loved exploring it, so I'm hoping I'll enjoy his Corduroy Mansion series. At any rate, it will be a lighter read than my rebel soldier read!
After seeing Sharon's review, I read Orphan Train by Christina Baker KlineThanks Sharon, it's a 4★ from me.

I enjoyed her first one, so I'm sure I would. I just haven't got myself a copy yet!

@Dale and Brenda - Taking a Chance this one sounds very tempting!!!I am reading a poem a day, from the collection The Good Thief by Marie Howe as well as continuing Sense and Sensibility which is providing abundant entertainment.
I'm just about to start
Nightingale Wood by Stella Gibbons.Cold Comfort Farm has been a favourite of mine for a long time and one of the few books I've read more than once.
Her books are quite hard to get in dead tree version but now with ebooks and audiobooks I finally have an easy way of getting to the rest of them.

Unexpected news for me! Christina Baker Kline author of Orphan Train has read my review. She messaged me this morning thanking me for my excellent and thoughtful review and asking for my address so she can send me a signed book plate.
This is a first for me so I'm feeling wow.

Thanks. You know, part of me wants to weigh into the discussion/argument yielded by the 'Emma (Who deplores Goodreads censorship)' review.
But I need to think of my stress levels so can only hope my review might negate some of the backlash this novel has received because of Emma's review.
I hadn't read it (although I remember seeing her name on the page), but now I'll have to check it out!

I hope it does Bette, and I don't think it's worth getting involved with that...you have reacted with what your reaction to the book dictated - leave it at that, and your delight in the author's response:)

I've found so many new authors since being with goodreads. Not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing seeing as I can't keep up with them all.

Same! I'm also reading many different genres now - a few years ago I was stuck with crime, thrillers etc, which I loved and still do, but now I read so much more:)

I've had so much fun reading new ones. I just purchased Lab Rat One by Andrea K. Höst after really enjoying the first book.

Finished Retribution Falls - it was great! If there are any fans of Firefly/Serenity, it was basically that, except with airships. Now onto The Lost Kingdom. I'm burning through books, got to read 15 more before the end of the year to meet my challenge, I got so behind.

Awesome review Bette and definitely well deserved praise from the author. Well done. It's a huge WOW to have that kind of feedback.
Just starting Ready Player One

Thanks Elaine, the author seems lovely.
Started South of Broad by Pat Conroy this morning. I can imagine Nick Nolte reading this in his southern accented tone.I've been reading some fairly serious novels lately so needed something a little lighter.
Wading my way through Dust by Patricia Cornwell. One day in Kay Scarpetta's life told in 512 pages. Even she does not have an exciting enough life to warrant that many pages.

Are you going to keep reading if you're "enjoying" it so much?
