Did you mean to not record your star rating Bette?"
Thanks, Brenda. Definite 4 ★
Jo wrote: "No way is this book chick lit.that does surprise me they listed it as that."Oh yeah, me too, Jo. Some people's shelving really surprises me sometimes. And it can put me off a good book i.e. I generally shy away from chick-lit books. But maybe I'm missing books that are incorrectly shelved???
I have Lionel Shriver's novels A Perfectly Good Family, Double Fault, and to re-read Big Brother reserved at the library. Whoo-hoo, in a Shriver kind of mood... :)

Two of her books I absolutely loved and then there were a few that were less than ordinary I thought. Do have Big Brother at home so I might get round to that soonish. :)

I found Burial Rites by Hannah Kent an amazing book Alik!

Reading The Vale Girl for my September challengey thing. Bit late but better late than never. Seems pretty good so far, pretty bloody dark though.
Yesterday, I whipped through Zoë Heller's debut novel Everything You Know; more a novella than a novel. 4★My review is at: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Last night, I started The Sorrows of an American by Siri Hustvedt. This is the first book I've read by a Norwegian author and I am enjoying it so far (except for the teeny weeny print). May take me longer than my usual.
Via Skype, Hayley and I have finished The Enchanted Wood and have started The Adventures of Binkle and Flip.I still have the copy I read as a child; kind of nice to be reading from that book some 35 years later.

I enjoyed this one too Geoff:)

Geoff wrote: "Finished Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks. Great read. 4.5 stars."This is on my TBR, Geoff. Glad to hear you enjoyed it so much. I've read Caleb's Crossing and People of the Book and enjoyed both of those. I might have to bump Year of Wonders up my list...!

Teeny print is off-putting to our "old" eyes isn't it Bette;)

She is a really good writer. I just have March left to read out of her fiction books and it is my October book for the Aussie Authors Challenge!

Finished reading Belong to Me by Marisa de los SantosMy review: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
I'm reading The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, after reading his other title; A Thousand Splendid Suns. They are both brilliant <3 if you haven't yet read them, I suggest you do :)

One of the books I'm reading is The Inevitability of Stars
by Kathryn R. Lyster
it's a really different experience reading a book that's partially set in your own local area, where you've travelled the streets and been to some of the venues / shops etc named in the book.

It is mainly set in my hometown of Kansas City in the States. It is so cool to be able to easily visualize all the places she talks about. Especially when I am currently living half a world away:-)

Sadly, Brenda, it's not just the 'old' eyes. You hit 48 and everything seems to start a sliding descent into encroaching old age. I garden for a day and my back aches the next, my skin regime has somehow multiplied tenfold, the list goes on. It ain't pretty:(
I read an article where a woman said she turned 50 and woke up one morning to find her bum had moved and was now residing on her chest! I am so not looking forward to that happening:):)

I finished Every Dead Thing last night and I think I have developed a taste for John Connolly's books! Charlie Parker is my new hero.
And now for something completely different I am going to read Longbourn.

LOL think you might have to up that to 200-250 with a list like yours ;) I will only have to live to 100 but if I keep adding I will be the oldest person in history :)

The Vale Girl finished. Not the sort of thing I'd usually read, but I enjoyed it enough. Well written, and the relationship between the teenage girl and her mother reminded me a lot of the relationship between me and my mum. Albeit, without the prostitution and alcoholism.
I finished How It All Began by Penelope Lively. 5★My review is here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
I think this author will become part of my Author Marathon Challenge: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...
I must have been one of the few people not watching the AFL grand final. I had the whole afternoon to finish Siri Hustvedt's The Sorrows Of An American. Just 3★s for this one

Sadly it is not as interesting as I had hoped. I am about half way and it is dragging.
