Welcome Welcome Welcome Molly! Glad to have you.
Jump in wherever you want to. The book(s) we are reading this month officially are Night Film by Marisha Pessl and Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. The discussion threads are always open, so lots of books are getting talked about all the time, but the books for the month should be at the very top of the group page.

Sadie Fowers | 13 comments Is there someone in this group that is from Northern Cali?? It seems that every time a new book is announced someone beats me to borrowing it from our library. If there is someone local that is part of this group I would love to meet up with you and discuss the books in person. ?? Anyone?? It's happened a couple of times and this just seems to silly to be a coincidence.

Courtney | 11 comments Hi! Long time LTT (now TN) reader de-lurking. I rarely post but have been reading since before Pattinson Pants was a thing.

I'm Courtney, in my early 30's, living in suburban Indy with The Husband and crazy toddler.

I ran over to TN last week to share in my despair over Allegiant (seriously, wtf?)and it led me here. Allegiant was worse than Breaking Dawn, imprinting and all. Yup, I said it.

I love YA, still, and I don't know what that says about me. I will read just about anything though, and I have loads of Twilight fanfic to prove it.

I don't drink but I will be enjoying a Mexican coke right along with everyone else.

message 154: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 1 comments Hi. I'm here after loving the It's Normal blog and then finding you had this too! I'm currently reading the Sullivan Series.

I'm a newspaper columnist, tv host, blogger in Michigan. I'm probably 100 years older than everyone in the group but hope you forgive me. I've loved JAMMF before y'all were born and I can KICK!

Seriously, happy to find this group and can't wait to join in on the next book.

message 155: by Brandy (new)

Brandy Hobart (brandyliz) So happy to find y'all on goodreads!
Anyway, I'm Brandy, I'm 29, married with one kiddo and (if the "y'all" didn't give it away) living in Abilene, TX.
I will read almost anything, but obviously I think Outlander is the best.
Oh, and I'm a beer snob and cheap wine enthusiast.
I don't really know what to say in these, so let's booze it up y'all!

Karen Gordon | 7 comments Hey all, I'm Karen. I just found That's Normal and this book club through all the hoopla surrounding the Outlander Starz series. Love all of it! So nice to find others as obsessed as I am with the books and series. I like all types of romance novels and tend to jump around between historic, contemporary, western, YA, paranormal, erotic. I'm finding it's more about the author than the genre.

My main job is mom (chick in charge) to two teenage boys, but I also teach and I'm trying my own hand at writing. I can be found on twitter @joiedemidvivre, and Pintrest too.

My obsessions are Outlander, the Arsenal football club (eye candy!), fashion, dark chocolate and most things French (see Olivier Giroud). Being a good Irish Catholic girl, my drink of choice is whiskey, specifically Jameson (with water and lemon, yum!)

Beth, I'm also near Memphis. We need to find all the Outlander crazies in town and find a place for viewing parties when the series starts.

Ajane | 1 comments Hi all -- I think I'm officially the latest adopter (certainly of my generation (I'm 33), possibly ever) as I'm brand new to Goodreads. TN and reading are two of my favorite things, so this group seems perfect! In my non-interwebs life I teach art history at a college near Lexington, KY. I'm a historical fiction junkie -- Outlander series and the Bronze Horseman are my faves -- and I'm looking forward to reading along with everyone!

message 164: by Dany (new)

Dany (danyspike) I'm starting the Dresden Files this month and I just finished volume 2 (that's episode 12 I think) of the walking dead comic, so we have that in common :)

Welcome to TN, Jo! I hope you have fun!

message 165: by Dany (new)

Dany (danyspike) Totally normal!

message 166: by Karen (new)

Karen Gordon | 7 comments Hi Jo,
I grew up just outside of St. Louis (St. Chuck) and I love the area. I love it that you are all over the place on book genres. I once read "A Natural History of the Senses" by Diane Ackerman. I think I would love the history of language. Author?
I consider it completely normal to cyberstalk Sam and I do so myself. Some days, when life is a little bleah, I watch the YouTube posts where he teaches Outlander speak and it's just enough toe-curling squeee to brighten my day. As for the Outlander series. . . on the good side, DG gets you lost in this fabulous world and you do sort of forget to do things like feed your family (for a while). On the bad side, you get to the end of the series and she leaves you jonesing for more, fast. Luckily now we have all the Starz stuff to help us along till we get more from the book series.

I just joined the group myself, but welcome from me.

message 167: by Karen (new)

Karen Gordon | 7 comments Dany: I finally got all the info together to post the first few chapters from my book in the creative writing section. The title is "Burnouts, Geeks and Jesus Freaks: a love story". Only a few friends have read it thus far, so it is very unnerving putting it out there for comment. However, that said, I would love your feedback (and anyone else in the boozy book club). Thanks, Karen

message 170: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (mom2grma) | 4 comments Hi Everyone! I was trying to read through all the introductions but since I'm almost a year behind...

My name is Lisa and I became a fan of That's Normal through Outlander, starting following along on Twitter so thought I would check out the blogs. I live in Central Ohio but am originally from Upstate NY (Adirondacks not Westchester County!). I love to read with Outlander and the Harry Potter books being my favorites! Twilight and The Hunger Games were my first dives into YA fiction. I'm a mom to two, married 20 years and am an ICU nurse/reasearch coordinator at a children's hospital. And for all of you Croc fans for gardening, Dansko or Sanita clogs are much better! The hard heel makes it much easier, and less painful to kick that shovel/spade in!

Looking forward to hopefully joining in on some book club reads!

Like it's the first day of school and I have to tell everyone what my favorite flavor of ice cream is (it's Ben & Jerry's Dublin Mudslide - duh). Anyhoooo I live in Washington (State)and started reading TN, which got me hooked on a ton of books that were recommended and thought, "hey man, just join the book club already." So now I'm here, telling you about Irish Cream & Chocolate Ice Cream and the Evergreen State.

Can't wait to read with you guys. :)

Stephanie | 2 comments Hello there boozy girls (and boys). My name is Stephanie. I live in Northern California with my DH, DS(11) and DD(8). I heard about this book club from Beth/TN on Twitter.

I read for entertainment and an escape at the end of my day so I'm not particularly choosy about what I read. My favorite genre is historical fiction but I love anything about complex interpersonal relationships. Oh and some sexy times are good too. ;-)

Kristin | 1 comments Hello All! My name is Kristin and I am from Fort Valley, GA. I recently found this group on the front page of goodreads.com and decided to join since I am always looking for new books to discover! I am 32, been married for 2 years and a loving mother or 2 cats (lots of 2's!). Besides reading I do photography in my spare time.

I look forward to joining the book discussions!

I'm Courtney. I'm 27 living in LA with my boyfriend of *almost* 8 years, our dog and two cats in a 1 bedroom apartment, so reading and wine are my "me time" tools. My drink of choice is a good malbec or red blend.

I just found That's Normal from Goodreads actually - I'm in the Outlander group and someone posted a link to the post about things her hubby said during the first episode, which I found HILARIOUS! And whatdayaknow, I found a new group of people to like. :)

I'm excited to join some of these discussions!

YAY. Keep up with us on twitter (@thats_normal) and Facebook as well. We don't post in the goodreads forum as often as we should, and for the next couple of weeks we are on book club hiatus.

PS It was my husband who said all that horrible stuff. Glad his ignorance sucked you in.

message 197: by Melanie (new)

Melanie Wagner Zickgraf Hi Ladies,

I'm Melanie and am *cough, cough* 49. I live in central Pennsylvania and have been happily married for 24 years. We have two daughters in college, which means we're broke. I work in healthcare finance so need the creative outlet of reading and dabbling in writing to get away from the number crunching. I became acquainted with Twilight through my daughters and then lurked around LTT/LTR and other Twilight blogs for a few years but was always too embarrassed to comment. Who is this middle-aged woman obsessed with Twilight? Luckily I was able to suck one of my best friends into the frenzy and we had a lot of fun with it. Now I follow TN.

Since the Twilight experience I've read some more YA but I probably read mystery more than anything. I am usually game for nearly any genre though. I have a 1 and 1/2 hour commute and often listen to audiobooks in the car. Lately I've been listening to the Outlander series since I read the books so long ago. It's like rekindling an old love.

I generally drink whiskey, vodka or a glass of wine. And apparently I like to talk too much. End ramble.

message 198: by Dany (new)

I, too, enjoy mysteries more than anything. Welcome!!

Anne | 24 comments Hi! I'm Anne and I'm 31 and my recent discovery and resultant obsession with Outlander drew me to That's Normal and now this book club, because if you all love Outlander as much as I do, then I need to read whatever else you're reading :) And...my drink of choice is bourbon (I live in Kentucky) or Margaritas. Or wine. I can always drink wine. Or a Guinness.
