Twitter
My twitter name is adriannas http://www.twitter.com/adriannas I added a couple of people from the list already, but I couldn't find everyone.
http://twitter.com/sarahannebrewalso, fantasy author a.j. hartley (ACT OF WILL) is on twitter: http://twitter.com/willhawthorne
No idea whatsoever what the point of twitter is, but I signed up anyhow: http://twitter.com/IJParnham
I also see no point for Twitter at this point in my life either, Ian. It's just another time vampire, taking me away from what's most important--my writing.
I wasn't into twitter at the beginning, but I must accept that it is yet another way to give my name and book some exposure...and I am all into that :)

Well I agree with you Libby...but I plan on twittering about things that other "book people" might enjoy. For instance I just tweeted about a free down load of The AlchemystMy tweet account is:

No thanks Horrible news - Michael Sullivan has decided to use Twitter to send updates re book progress. Turns out Terry Practchett and Neil Gaiman Twitter too! I may have no choice here but to join the masses despite any personal reservation :-)
Lol - Libby - that's too funny. Yep I've asked Mike to start twittering. He's not happy about it but it is a good way to let fans know where he is on progress. So his address is: http://twitter.com/author_sullivan

Jasper Fford fan I see ;-)

Hm, yes! ;)
I've got a MySpace page I hardly ever look at. I'm fairly avid at FaceBook. And I love GoodReads. What's to love about Twitter? How is it different from the above? What are the pros/cons?
Not sure I want to get sucked into yet another social networking site. :P
Jon - I think it is simply a way to send quick updates to a massive group of people. I only signed up because a few of my favorite authors are using it to send update on their work. You know the "status" window on facebook and goodreads - imagine what you type in there being sent to everyone that subscribes to your twitter address.http://twitter.com/

I love twitter and use it daily. Though it did take a bit to get the hang of it. It's marketed as "what are you doing now" but when you choose who you associate with well, it becomes a never ending real-time conversation about any and everything. Basically it's a similar concept as text messaging on your phone, but you can broaden your reach to your favorite authors, bloggers, stars, political personalities, or others around the world who share your hobbies.
The most important pro IMO, is the huge book community. I follow about 280 people on twitter all Fantasy or Romance: readers, authors, or blogs/sites. It's become my main source for book conversation. I love being able to exchange ideas or just chat casually with readers/book bloggers from around the world effortlessly. Conversation seems to flow more organically on twitter due to the simplicity of the layout and character limit
Here's an example from my twittering yesterday. I tweeted:
" did any of you guys actually read Pride, Prejudice, & Zombies? I remember the Buzz but haven't seen any reviews"
within 4 mins I had multiple responses ( 3 links to blog reviews to check out and stemming discussions with my twitter pals about Zombie fiction, Austen Purity, and musings about what kind of crowd would a period zombie movie attract ( if it jumped from page to screen).
In my experience on fb & Myspace, that sort of spontaneous thought snowballing into a full fledged conversation, doesn't happen. But I guess like any form of communication, it is what you make of it.
Mistress wrote: "Conversation seems to flow more organically on twitter due to the simplicity of the layout and character limit"This is intriguing. Perhaps I will give Twitter a try. Thanks for the "review" of Twitter as well. :)

personally, i find it hard to keep up with twitter. i do this kind of stuff on facebook, myspace, etc. Plus, I have all my other online things like goodreads, yahoo book groups, imvu, etc. feel free to add me. i just might not update that often. ;)
http://twitter.com/zhyegoattMostly I use it to announce book reviews I've added (urban fantasy, fantasy, paranormal romance).
I've been looking at Twitter, and while I appreciate the conversational flow of it, it doesn't have much in the way of layouts, does it? I've only seen changing color schemes.Or maybe I'm just too used to the almost complete customization you can do with LiveJournal. This simplicity of layout won't deter me completely, but it IS something I look at whenever I want to try something new.
(sidebar, is anyone here into LiveJournal? I may try new sites out but my heart belongs to LJ!)
I have a twitter account at http://twitter.com/ghostpostsI use it for shout outs ad retweet anything I think is cool.
Just posted several of your tweets on facebook.
I love LJ, and blogger. I have so many good things to post I run three blogs to spread it around.
Bradley, your baby looks so innocent and sweet.
Nicola wrote: "I'm trying to get used to the idea of blathering into the ether; people to blather at always appreciated!"I'm the same way, I much prefer having someone that I'm talking to.
I caved! Still getting used to it, but it seems pretty simple! I'm http://twitter.com/verendrye, if anyone's interested....Still, LJ owns me heart and soul.
