Jamie I am starting very late, but I have become obsessed with all things goodreads and this looks like a cool group. I have always loved reading, but I have gotten lazy about it in the last few years. It is time for me to turn off the TV and get to reading again. I have been listing what I have read so far in 2009 so here goes:

1. Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
2. My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult
3. American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis
4. When A Crocodile Eats the Sun: A Memoir of Africa by Peter Godwin
5. The name of the Rose by Umberto Eco
6. Twilight by Stephanie Meyer
7. Jesus Land: A Memoir by Julia Scheeres
8. The Human Stain by Philip Roth
9. Watchmen by Alan Moore
10.Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson
11.The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
12.Better by Atul Gawande
13.The Things They Carried by Tim O'Brien
14.New Moon by Stephanie Meyer

Jamie 15. The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. This was a quick read. I've had it on my shelf for a long time and I was glad to finally get to it.

Hyacinth (hyacinthlo) | 34 comments Welcome!!

I was wondering how you liked Love in the Time of Cholera.
It's been in my Tbr pile for a couple years and I even started it once but couldn't get into it well. And then I made the mistake of watching the movie, which In my opinion wasn't very good. So does it get better and you read further into the book?

Jamie You know, I think I just really enjoyed the writing so much that it was a fantastic story to me. I would say that it doesn't change that much as you get further into it. I have never seen the movie so I can't comment on that.

Jamie 16. The Feast of the Goat by Mario Vargas Llosa.
This book was wonderful. Totally engrossing, though there were a few slow parts in the middle. Five star read for me. Now I can't wait to read this author's other books.

Jamie 17. Teacher Man by Frank McCourt. 2 stars... he should have stopped at two books I think.

Jamie 18. The Time Traveler's Wife
I am really surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. I don't think it was great by any means but it was very addictive.

Jamie 19. Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer. This one was a tiny bit better than the first two in my opinion. A three star read.

Jamie 20. McNally's Luck by Lawrence Sanders. Just an easy mystery that was sitting around the house. I enjoyed putting it in the recycling bin when done.
21. The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs. Cheesy and hokey, but a real pleasure to read. It was just what I needed to start the summer.
