Your faith is inspiring, Delmy. :-)

It’ll certainly be interesting if you’re proven right. I guess we’ll all find out soon enough.

Delmy (needfulreads) and I thought there was a rumor about a possible Aug release? either way it cant come out any sooner for me! :)

The last I heard, Martin has said that he’d like to see it published before Season 6 of the series kicks off (next April). He has also hinted that he’d like to finish the manuscript before the November Fantasy Convention so that he could attend. Keep in mind, however, that — especially with a manuscript this immense — there’ll be a significant time lag between manuscript completion/submission and publication. (I think the typical delay is on the order of 2 to 5 months; might be shorter with big name authors.)

Yeah, well... I was pretty hurt about the death. It's hard to find a hero in this weary world, but I thought I found one (wait... this is fiction isn't it).

In other news, when was the time we've seen Bran? Was there any news as to what happened with Edmure Tully, who was taken captive? The Blackfish? Gentry? Some characters seem to have been forgotten...

Char | 17498 comments Before this season came out, HBO announced that Bran and other characters would be left out of this season to allow them to move the stories of other characters forward. I believe Bran and co. will be back this season.

Any signs of life from Sandor Clegane? Didn't watch season 5 yet and he's one of my favourite characters.

Andy | 18 comments I love this show and I am intrigued to see how they will finish it within 7 seasons as planned, I think a whole season will be needed to tie all plot lines up.

message 215: by Jason (new)

Jason Parent | 741 comments I have a feeling they'll tie some plot holes up they same way they have been. "Just kill 'em"

message 216: by Just Elise (new)

Just Elise (justelise) | 21 comments I've read all of the books. I wish they had taken season five more slowly. They essentially crammed two books into one season, and left a ton of stuff out. It's as if they're trying to race GRRM to the ending. (Which is not much of a race, obviously.)

With all of the changes they've made, I've been trying to view the show as sort of an alternate story. But knowing that they know where the story leads and how it ends, I might stop watching it to avoid spoilers.

OK, I probably won't stop watching it. :)

There are a fair number of characters who have died in the show, but who were still alive at the end of book five. Are those spoilers? I guess we won't know until at least WoW, if not another book some time in the (distant) future.

All the whining about spoilers aside, I thought they did a good job with season five.

message 217: by Holly (new)

Holly (goldikova) Season 6 anyone?

I have found a great new way to watch the show......... I skip any scene with Ramsay Snow. I intend to watch only one more scene of this show with that particular character, so let me know when he dies.

Actually, I am cheating big time this season, only watching what I want to see and skipping everything else. After the highly viewer-abusive Season 5 what do they expect? Of course I am only going to watch the scenes that make me happy and ignore the rest.

D&D are free to run the show as they see fit and I am free to view the show as I see fit and my system is working great for me.

OMG I F***ING HATE RAMSEY SNOW!!!!! LMBO I can't wait to see someone take his head. And I'm pretty excited to see Bran's storyline evolve this season.

message 221: by [deleted user] (new)

Ramsey Snow is still more sympathetic than Geoffrey was. Geoffrey had that "evil and narcissistic cousin" feeling to him, which made him espicially despicable.

Must be the inbreeding. =] On the other hand, as far as Ramsey creating Reek, well, Theon did have that coming.....

I think you mean Joffrey???

message 225: by Steve (new)

Steve Parcell | 912 comments I think Ramsey has to stay in as he is fantastic. A Ramsey, John Snow, Tyrian fight finale after a battle of wits (which obviously Tyrian would win) would be awesome.

Ramsey has been involved in the best scene thus far with the murder of his stepmum and stepbrother by his dogs. But that has made an enemy of Walder Fray and we all know what his vengeance is like with the Red Wedding.

We need the Whitewalkers to kick off as well.

Daenarys and the Dothraki storyline is a bit weak for me which is the only low point thus far.

Holly (goldikova) Jennifer wrote: "Out of interest Holly which characters are you watching? ☺"W

Bran! One reason I disliked S5 so much. His story is my favorite because of the magical elements; weirwood trees, ravens, children of the forest, warging, direwolves, etc.

Also, since I read the history of Westeros in "AWorld of Ice and Fire" I have been fascinated by Robert's Rebellion and the story of Bryndon Rivers/Bloodraven. Bran is now giving us an inside view into the Rebellion through his visions and Bloodraven is right there beside him. So far, so good, I love it.

The Stark sisters, love them both and fear for them. Tyrion is awesome, so happy to see him hanging out with dragons; he and Varys are a ray of hope in the dreary Slavers Bay storyline. I would like to see Lady Olenna have a major triumph, and Brienne of Tarth serve with honor and courage.

The alleged return of Sandor Clegane worries me most. He is my favorite character and I have been fine with his story in the books. I would much rather have him permanently retain his show status as "missing, presumed dead" than to have him come back and be exploited for pure sensationalism. If he does return this season I will probably hold off watching until the season is over and I know what happens. If I find out that it is safe to watch then I can go back and see what I missed.

My friend got me hooked on this show, then of course I had to go and get and binge on all the books. Love both! My fave characters are (in no particular order) Tyrion, Arya, Sansa, Bronn, Davos, the Hound, Jon, Brienne, Jorah, and I've even developed a soft spot for Jaime. I feel like I'm forgetting people. Show-wise, I also specially like/love Ja'qen or however that's spelled, and Gendry. I'm a fan of GOT for life now, lol.

Stannis was great (is great maybe as we didn't see him die?). We weren't sure at first as he's do different to the book version but the actor really did make him his own.

And it was such a shame for him, he really was heir to the throne!

message 236: by Anita (new)

Anita (neet413) | 821 comments What about the blacksmith kid, Robert Baratheon's bastard? The one that Ned Stark knew was the true heir when Robert died, remember he took off with Aria once Ned was executed, then Davos sent him off on a boat? Haven't seen him in a while, maybe I missed something but he's still out there.

message 237: by Steve (new)

Steve Parcell | 912 comments I don't recall seeing Stannis die either. Sure he was in great peril in the battle but we never actually see him die. A John Snow/Stannis alliance backed by the Wildings have a battle with The Boltons (including the guy who has just given him Rickon Stark) would be awesome.
Backed by Bran Stark and his magic, I would love to see Ramsey Bolton become the Starks bitch as he did to Theon (Reek) Greyjoy.
Mind you the trailer for next week seeing Theon reunited with his spunky sister looks interesting. She's tough as nails and babeliscious!

I remember him well Anita. He was just told to row in the direction of the city with all the money in it? (The one Stannis went to in order that he could borrow money?)

Maybe he will be reunited with Arya???

Very true, and that's one of the very few scenes that irks me. We didn't actually see it happen, and GoT isn't afraid to show us people dying. Brienne swung and it cut to Ramsay Bolton.

I was really hoping to find out that she didn't actually do it, as Stannis deserved a proper death, not one that happened off screen. But as he hasn't come back yet, I think they have gone with the decision to kill him off camera. Boo!

It'll be interesting if they bring Gendry back. He's been rowing for a long time now!

message 250: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 2 comments High Sparrow is a solid character. It's hard to completely dislike him. He lives what he says...except for the part he kind of impassively threatens to imprison/humiliate/murder anyone with his minions, if they don't do what he says.
That image is crazy.
