OMG, that is pretty much one of my most favouritest songs ever - takes me back to some very happy times.

message 4: by Averin (new)

Averin | 1960 comments Yeah, breaks my rule about "no music from high school."

message 5: by Lori S. (new)

Lori S. (fuzzipueo) | 2805 comments I get songs stuck in my head all the time. Usually ones I don't want there - anything by Taylor Swift for instance. Much prefer Vicci Martinez's Come Along.

Rick | 11538 comments Guilty Pleasure Music

My current "earworm":

message 7: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments That is REALLY GUILTY!

message 8: by Monika (new)

Monika | 2175 comments Complaint!! My phone won't let me check out that Guilty pleasure music link! :-( Have to get back to you when I get on my laptop.

message 9: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments No DON'T, Monika. You'll throw up, honest!

message 10: by Averin (new)

Averin | 1960 comments That's not so bad. I have http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4mbxa...

and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xeDGfk... {an earworm as I always expect it to be an old U2 song]

and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVOUTk..., its chief advantage is that it is terribly embarrassing to my kids when I sing along.

Monika | 2175 comments Roger wrote: "No DON'T, Monika. You'll throw up, honest!"

Okaaaay, if you say so Roger....but now you have me really, really curious! Gah! Lets see how long til I cave and check it out ;-)

Preston | 20148 comments Childs play. Phillip Glass is where it's at.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TOq4...

You've never have had an ear worm before Glassworks fills your head.

Rick | 11538 comments Averin wrote: "That's not so bad.

Well, it's good to see that the 80s are alive and well.

Wait - that would be Neo-80s Revival.

And there's nothing like Glassworks - great stuff.

How about some more original 80s hits:

Roger Kean | 17278 comments Never saw Voodoo b4! Was Mexican Radio really so boring?

Industry was cool.

Kajagoogoo – goes without saying, Paul Gambaccini's bf (it was the drummer I fancied…)

message 15: by Rick (new)

Rick | 11538 comments Roger wrote: "Never saw Voodoo b4! Was Mexican Radio really so boring?"

I think it had more to do with American's tuning into a radio station that was broadcast in Spainish and not being able to understand what was going on. Because so many Americans are only able to speak one language (and I cringe everytime I hear someone say they only speak American).

I loved Industry. Another one-hit-wonder. Sigh. And Kajagoogoo - sigh - I did love my pop-80s bands.

But then there's

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNnAvT...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kT-K5h...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CO5eg7... and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wA7VIP...

But I've got a real soft spot for Tony Carey/Planet P

Then there's:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wl1psq... or

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFbF0A...

But that's not the 80s.

message 16: by Averin (new)

Averin | 1960 comments Somewhere in storage, I still have http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uppfaO... on 'laser-etched vinyl'

message 17: by Rick (new)

Rick | 11538 comments Wow, Blast from the past! I only have a vague memory of that song. Wonderful!

(although the youtube video is more than a little bit silly) ;)

Thanks!

Definitely New Wave.

I've Got You! A favorite.

A fun one to get stuck in the head: Dancing in Heaven Orbital Bee-Bop

For Rick - a new earworm (after I saw the first version of this video I had to buy the song. It got that stuck in my head): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxyD9N...

message 19: by Rick (new)

Rick | 11538 comments Oh you went there Lori - here's my rebuttal:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQ5HEY...

but I think I like this video to the song better

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJVzXv...

message 20: by Lori S. (new)

Lori S. (fuzzipueo) | 2805 comments Love Don't Roam is not one of my favorites unfortunately.

Toy Soldiers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0Utow...
and I promise no more Whovian stuff here ...

So here's another one which gets stuck on a regular frequency: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-N7CkQ...

message 21: by Rick (new)

Rick | 11538 comments Ohhh, Kraftwerk! Yay! Here's my rebuttal:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmNuAg...

(When I sing along to Love Don't Roam while driving I switch the lyrics from girl to boy and think about Captain Jack) ;)

message 22: by Rick (new)

Rick | 11538 comments And then when these dug in I was never able to recover:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7FPpu...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9eROTY... (may inappropriate for non-adults - but I don't have kids so who am to comment)

Oh the 90s and those dark vampiric nights ;)

message 23: by Averin (new)

Averin | 1960 comments All weekend long my son would corner me and play http://youtu.be/jofNR_WkoCE. Since I woke up this morning, maybe before, that's all I hear.

message 24: by Lori S. (last edited Oct 07, 2013 08:43AM) (new)

Lori S. (fuzzipueo) | 2805 comments I accidentally gave myself an earworm when my dad was complaining about serious news and something about Mily(sp?) Cyrus this morning and I told him to go out and look at the balloons ... Up Up and Away

It's Balloon Fiesta here in Albuquerque this week. Sigh ...

Oh, that song - a teacher friend showed that song to us last weekend. Snicker (stupid song at that).

message 26: by Roger (new)

Roger Kean | 17278 comments What's so wrong with it? Lovely lyrics…

Dog goes woof
Cat goes meow
Bird goes tweet
And mouse goes squeak
Cow goes moo
Frog goes croak
And the elephant goes toot
Ducks say quack
And fish go blub
And the seal goes ow ow ow
But there’s one sound
That no one knows
What does the fox say?
“Ring-ding-ding-ding-dingeringding
Gering-ding-ding-ding-dingeringding

That's not an earworm. An earworm is when you can't get Herman's Hermit's "I'm Henry the Eighth I Am" out of your head no matter how hard you try.

I hadn't heard him before you mentioned him and then there he was in the flesh https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpjG4...

message 36: by Rick (new)

Rick | 11538 comments Yep, I fell in LOVE with that song after watching the first series of In the Flesh.

message 37: by Eric (new)

Eric Westfall (eawestfall) | 377 comments Ah, you young whippersnappers and your weird-ass music. >teasing smile< I just clicked on the Keaton Henson link above, and first the whole In the Flesh image made me shudder (zombie storyline?) and then I listened to the song for about a minute and gave up. Sadly I found nothing "earwormish" about it, if by earworm we mean a song you hear which keeps playing in your head.

Us of the older generation are possibly more likely to be earwormed by "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" and other Jersey Boys songs. Although I can get earwormed by Nelson Eddy and Jeanette McDonald in just about anything. >g<

Uh...for you really young folks, you may have to Google the latter duo. Their Naughty Mariette duet on the balcony is marvelous.

Thus endeth Eric's current USD .02.

That was just enough to set the earworm off this morning and I'm supposed to be starting to earn a living!!!!

message 42: by Eric (new)

Eric Westfall (eawestfall) | 377 comments Yes, Lori, it is indeed funny that Roger really isn't sorry at all to have done this to me. I can tell from the way the words appear on the screen, and the secret code in the :::wrings hands::: pixels that lets me know he was chortling wickedly all the while he was typing.

And I'm still hearing that damned Indian love-calling me!

>g<

Ah, I have P!nk's "Perfect" going through my head right now. While not a bad song, it does get old after a while.

Who're you calling ancient? We're the same age!

message 49: by Rick (new)

Rick | 11538 comments "Nearly ancient" - nearly can represent a very long period of time when talking about the ancients. ;)

message 50: by Eric (last edited Jul 12, 2014 04:49PM) (new)

Eric Westfall (eawestfall) | 377 comments Eric-the-ever-wise hereby proclaims, decides and decrees that the standard of ancientness in the land of whining, er, complaints shall be whoever is 71 on 29th July. Degrees of ancientness shall hereafter be measured in percentages thereof.

Thusly: He or she who is 50 is 70.4% ancient.Anyone under the age of 35 shall be per se considered as whippersnappers.Eric, however, reserves the right, in his sole discretion, to designate particular individuals as whippersnappers if they display the appropriate characteristics of whippersnapperdom.

So sayeth the Eric.

So let it be written. So let it be done.
