Robert | 1 comments from what i can remember it starts with a stable boy taking care of dragons that are fighting in some kind of arena. he gets an egg somehow and ends up raising it......i know that isn't much but any help is appreciated. thanks

I agree this is Dragon's Blood. Description: "Jakkin, a bond boy who works as a Keeper in a dragon nursery on the planet Austar IV, secretly trains a fighting pit dragon of his own in hopes of winning his freedom."

He obtains a hatchling/snatchling.
