How has the earth changed since the early days of nature literature? How have we, as humans, perceived that world? Have our philosophies and concerns regarding the planet changed? Have they come full circle?

1. Pick 6 fiction or non-fiction books or poetry collections written before 1900 and 6 of the same written after 1900.
2. Try to pick one from each time period that has an environmental theme similar to the other. (For example: a book about mining methods written in 1880 and one written in 2000.)
3. Compare and contrast the two in a response (less than 500 words) to this thread.
