Roz | 4529 comments I started 12.21 by Dustin Thomason yesterday and I'm more that half done. Pretty good and a quick read. When I finish it I plan on starting The Almond Tree by Michelle Cohen Corasanti . I won it in a Goodreads giveaway and it just came a couple of days ago.

This looks fantastic! Definitely adding it to my TBR list.

Would you recommend this one over Nicholas and Alexandra?

Travis, please do tell me about Einstein: His Life and Universe. I am very curious about that one. I liked the author's Benjamin Franklin: An American Life, so do keep that in mind if you like the book. What I wish you would tell me is if the scientific ideas are too hard to understand? I get grumpy when I cannot follow exactly what is being explained.

Another county heard from.... I thought
Robert K. Massie's Nicholas and Alexandra was a teeny bit better than Catherine the Great: Portrait of a Woman; I am talking four compared to five stars. They are both great books to read.

Dem, how would you compare the two?

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments I finished The Knife of Never Letting Go The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness for the alphabet challenge. I gave it 3 stars because I found it to be quite an unsatisfying read and I whilst I didn't hate it, I didn't love it either. I haven't made up my mind whether I will read the rest of the series.

Now I will continue with Comanche Moon Comanche Moon (Comanche, #1) by Catherine Anderson which I should finish in the next few days.

It will be a few days before I finish, but I will be sure to check back in with my thoughts.

I enjoyed both books but Nicholas and Alexandrawas a really special and 5 star read for me because I have always loved Russian history and particularly the story of the last Tsar and his family. My curiously about this time in history was well and truly satisfied by Massie's Nicholas and Alexandra. Wonderful book and wonderful writer.

Chrissie Dem, we seem to have come to the same consensus, both good but "Nicholas and Alexandra" best!
