It works for Blue.

It would work for an A or a M in the spell it out challenges."

It also works for "Behind Enemy Lines": Jessica Qua from Leather Black Jacket also read it.

Ellinor (1001andmore) I finished Inferno (Robert Langdon, #4) by Dan Brown by Dan Brown.

Works for:

1. Behind Enemy Lines (Steven from Mango Tango read it)
3. Color Behind: Bronze
5. Spell-it-out: I in Reading (Inferno), B in NBRC (Brown), D in REading (Dan)
6. Set in Florence, Venice and Istanbul, all places I'd consider favourite holiday destinations.
7. Inferno has seven letters.

Jess (jesscatt) | 40 comments Thanks for that, I was wondering what categories need attention so I can pick something from them!

Did two people read Kiss of the Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon and I just missed that, or is it not meant to be there twice? And two people read Inferno so we can get another book in category #1 I think? :)

Marchioness of Magenta | 110 comments Jess - You are right on both counts. Let me check and get back to you.

The 4th category is BOM/Buddy Reads which we can skip and double up on another category. Right now, it's looking to be Category #5.

What would really help us now:

1. Read more Bronze books for the Color Behind category. If you have any doubts on the color, please let me know. I'll co-ordinate with the mods.

2. Category #6 seems to be lagging behind with 1 book. For category #6, we can either:
Read a book with Moon on cover
Read a book with Green Color on Cover
Read a book with Flowers on Cover
Read a book with any monument on Cover
Read a book set in Favorite Holiday Destination
Read a book that can spell out ANY ROSE

Honestly, we are doing great! We can fit books to most categories except for #1 & #3. Bronze is not a easy book cover color to find.

And a big THANK YOU to all of you for posting your books in this thread and making the tracking easier for us.

Jess (jesscatt) | 40 comments Finished The Player of Games (Culture, #2) by Iain M. Banks by Iain M. Banks

Works for
#2: blue, perhaps? It looks more blue in person than it does in the little picture there.
#5: "I" in Reading (Iain), "B" in NBRC (Banks)
#7: "P" in Up (Player), 7 words in title/author (if the M. counts as a word - if not, 7 words in title/series/author) (The Player of Games, Culture, Iain Banks) or (The Player of Games, Iain M. Banks)

I've found a few books I own with flowers/moon on the cover so I'll prioritise them! :)

Marchioness of Magenta | 110 comments Jess, I think it'll work for Blue. I've asked for confirmation jic. If the book works, then we are done with category #2 too. Good job!

And Kiss of the Night (Dark-Hunter, #5) by Sherrilyn Kenyon is approved for Bronze. I *may* shift it to that category.

Finished The Shadow Garden by Andrew Matthews by Andrew Matthews

Works for
#5: "S" in Teams (Shadow), "A" in Teams, Reading, Challenge (Andrew), "M" in Teams (Matthews)
#6: Flowers on the cover - a bit hard to see and confirm on this half-sized thumbnail, but there are two roses and a wide border of leaves and flowers that almost blend in with the background. Otherwise, "A" in Any (Andrew), "S" in Rose (Shadow)
#7: "S" in Seven (Shadow)

Edit: Trying to find a bronze book on my shelves, do you guys think these ones are bronze enough? I'll probably pick my next book from these ones.
Everything's Eventual by Stephen King Physics of the Impossible A Scientific Exploration of the World of Phasers, Force Fields, Teleportation and Time Travel by Michio Kaku Hell House by Richard Matheson

Marie | 20 comments Well, my first week of exams is up, so I can finally post something here...:D
Finished Unleash the Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon Unleash the Night (Dark-Hunter, #9; Were-Hunter, #3) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
and Dark Side of the Moon by Sherrilyn Kenyon Dark Side of the Moon (Dark-Hunter, #10; Were-Hunter, #4) by Sherrilyn Kenyon (as you might have noticed, I'm tinsy-bit obsessed by finishing the Dark Hunter series at the moment...
Hmm
Unleash the Night could do the ANY ROSE spell-it-out.
Dark side of the Moon - may be bronze, I don't know really, it's a tad too reddish for me, you decide. It could also be used to spell ANY ROSE.
Oh, and what happend with poor Barry Cunliffe? The Ancient Celts by Barry W. Cunliffe For a moment I was so excided that I could actually include a textbook in this challenge...it seemed kinda cool

Marchioness of Magenta | 110 comments Marie, the Celts book work. I confirmed it with the mods. Sorry, I completely forgot to let you know. And the Celts book should work for Bronze as well. I'll confirm.

Well done, Allison, Jess & Marie! At this rate, we should have the challenge done by this month! Awesome job, ladies!!

Marchioness of Magenta | 110 comments Jess - I realized I'm horrible at guessing the colors - I would say the third definitely works. Let me confirm with the mods and let you know. I think we might not even need a Bronze any more. If I use Kiss of the Night (Dark-Hunter, #5) by Sherrilyn Kenyon , Temeraire (Temeraire, #1) by Naomi Novik & The Ancient Celts by Barry W. Cunliffe for Bronze, it will complete the category.

message 66: by Jess (new)

Jess (jesscatt) | 40 comments Haha, I'm horrible at guessing colours too - well, if we end up being short a bronze let me know (I'm sure at least one of those is bronze), otherwise I'll try to make category 6 less lonely, haha.

Marchioness of Magenta | 110 comments Jess, all of your choices are approved for Bronze. Concentrate on category #6 and at the end of next week, we can check which category is easiest to do another round.

Marchioness of Magenta | 110 comments Allison, if we are doing category 4, then we need to have 7 books to fill that. I don't think any of us are participating in Buddy Reads taking place in the NBRC group. The best way is to skip #4 and do another category twice like #5 which is basically spell it out. You can still read The Passage but we'll try to fit in another category. Sounds good?

Marchioness of Magenta | 110 comments Allison - for Behind Enemy Lines, you can't use Michael J. Sullivan's books because they weren't read since this challenge started i.e April 12. That's okay. I'll check about fitting this in the other categories.

Thanks for posting them here though. It's very helpful.

5. Spell it out "A" or "D" or "H" (where ever we need it to fit).

Sorry, again I can't figure out how to find out if it works for behind enemy lines. :)

Finished Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen today.

It's green cover means that it'll work for #6

Marchioness of Magenta | 110 comments I loved the series too. Especially the final book. The build-up was done very well.

Allison wrote: "I LOVE the Riyria series... The first book was good but not the best. I didn't start loving the series until book 2."

Marchioness of Magenta | 110 comments Donna, it's ok - Just post whatever categories it fits. If we have enough blue books to do it twice, then that would be great.

You can try Category #1 - Behind Enemy Lines. It requires some pre-planning - you have to scout to one of the enemy team member's view book (You can use the spreadsheet for easy navigation) or you can try your hand at category #6.

I am going to read Winter Moon, which has a picture of the moon on it. This should work for category 6!! If I have nightmares, then I'm blaming you!! (Just joking). I actually have not read anything by Dean Koontz in a very long time, so it should be interesting. :)

message 79: by Ellinor (new)

Ellinor (1001andmore) I will finish Me Before You by Jojo Moyes today or tomorrow. I've seen it on a few shelves around here so it will work for category one. I've also sitting And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini on my shelf and I want to read that next. It also works for category one which would be finished then. This means you won't have to worry about it anymore.

Marchioness of Magenta | 110 comments Ellinor, Emily from Moonstone read it on May 20. So it'll definitely work for Category #1.

I found another way to find if the books were read by others. The mods did post that idea somewhere and I used it this time. It worked.

Marchioness of Magenta | 110 comments Donna, I couldn't find your book being read by an "enemy".

I haven't tried Dean Koontz but if it's horror, then let me know. I'll read it :P (P.s: I didn't know he was a horror author)

Marie | 20 comments I've finished The Dream Hunter by Sherrilyn Kenyon The Dream Hunter (Dream-Hunter, #1; Dark-Hunter, #11) by Sherrilyn Kenyon

It has a blue cover.
It's happening on Santorini, I favourite holiday place, so it can fit in that category too.
Also can be used for spell it out S,D,H

Marchioness of Magenta | 110 comments Marie, it can also work for category #7 in two ways:

1. If we count hyphenated word as one - The Dream Hunter (Dark-Hunter Universe) Sherrilyn Kenyon - 7 words
2. If we count hyphenated words as two & ignore THE - Dream Hunter (Dark-Hunter Universe) Sherrilyn Kenyon - 7 words.

Excellent. With the addition of Allison's books, I think we should be *almost* done by this weekend, if not completely. Awesome work, Magenta!!

It would also work for #5 ("D" in Reading (Das), "A" in Teams or Reading or Challenge (Anne), "E" in Teams or Reading or Challenge (Enright)) or for #7 (Enright has 7 letters).
