Vicky, I already read #1, lol. But I'll join you to discuss it - i have it on my kindle. Then we can read the rest together too! :-)And yes, i plan to read the WHOLE HUGE HUMONGUS series with you! :-)
Oh no, I thought that you were the one who agreed to read it with me. Oh geez, what the heck! LOL Oh well, hopefully someone else will jump on board or I'll be budding reading it alone...me, myself, and I! LOL
No, I did agree to read with you, but you said you'd read #1 and then we'd get together for #2, BUT no worries! I read it on my own for pick me a winner and I'd be more than happy to have someone to discuss it with! So the date is even better for me now! :-) It's a quick read - i read it in one afternoon. So, I'll meet ya here on the 16th to discuss! :-) It's a fun book and I'll be so happy to have a reading buddy for the next 1500 books, too, LOLOLOL!
I'll save the day and jump in, Vicki! I've watched all of the tv show but I've heard it's different and I wanted to give it a try! Not sure if I'll join you for the rest of the series but I'll definitely read this one!
So cool to have friends who also love to read and discuss books. :) One of my favorite things as a teacher is having students that love to come in and talk to me about their books. Some kids come back after I don't have them anymore just to share books!

It was free at one point on Amazon, I don't know if it still is, but you might want to check! :-)
Gonna be a good one!
YAY, Ally!!!! I'm so glad to have you read with us (me)!!! We'll take it one book at a time and decide if we want to continue the series as we go. I'm assuming the series is good since Gis and Trisha are on book 11 I think. Lol

And the books that I have to pick for school (though I'm thankful I get to pick!) are classics/adult novels, so they aren't up for discussion. Some of the younger grades in the high school have Speak, Hunger Games, etc. I believe. But I never got to read them at that age, and as a senior they certainly don't let me now LOL.
Darn, it isn't free on Amazon anymore :( My friend owns the whole series though so I'll be able to grab it from her by thenOh wow, 11 already! I can't even think of series that continued up until 11 that I actually stuck with aside from Private and The Bad Beginning. AND The Clique, actually, since I finally got around to reading the last ones a couple of weeks back.
LOL can't you see a trend with the type of books I have the patience to stick with?
Haha, we have until December to get the first 13 books read. Book 14 is due in December. We can all buy it for ourselves as a Christmas present. LOL
Vicki wrote: "YAY!!! I've been wanting to read this series, but now it's a goal! Thank, Ally!! :)"
Sounds like a good goal ladies! :-)
Vicki wrote: "Haha, we have until December to get the first 13 books read. Book 14 is due in December. We can all buy it for ourselves as a Christmas present. LOL"yay!!! I will read that book with you too!!!! :D
I think Gisbelle and Amanda might join that one too! Wohooo!!
Trisha wrote: "Vicki wrote: "Haha, we have until December to get the first 13 books read. Book 14 is due in December. We can all buy it for ourselves as a Christmas present. LOL"yay!!! I will read that book wit..."
Yes, I will join in on that one. I have been reading them all right now I love this series :)

I think you are only one book away from Gisbelle and I!!!!! hopefully you can make it to our next buddy read! LOL! You are slamming through these books! congrats!
I'm confused! I was talking about the PLL series. Trisha, you're on 11 right? I must've misunderstood someone.

I thinks she's farther than 11... 13 I do believe.. Can't remember for sure.. LOL. In any case we'll get to where we need to be by December!!!! :-)
Trisha wrote: "I think you are only one book away from Gisbelle and I!!!!! hopefully you can make it to our next buddy read! LOL! You are slamming through these books! congrats! "Yeah I am aiming to get through so I can join the next book with you and Gisbelle.
Yes! We're on number 11, but Amanda is almost to number 11 - just racing through the series! LOL! I'm hoping Amanda can make it to the buddy read Gisbelle and I are having in just a few days!I think amanda is just 1 book away from us now!
Ally, I teach 9th grade English and the first quarter I teach Hunger Games and MANY kids BEG me to read the 2nd book too. students will come in and just pick it up before class starts because they get so in to it! Some go check it out at the library because they can't wait to know what is going to happen. I tell them that is fine but if they tell others what happens I will break their neck. lol I also have a lot of kids who read Catching Fire because they're so into the story line. I read YA for my students to know how to help them choose. How do you teach English/literature without reading YA? We still read Romeo and Juliet. Lol
Oh, whew! I thought that you thought we were almost done or that you were referring to another series that Ally mentioned. Mark my words: I will be reading book 14 with you and Gis come December! Lol

I love the confidence :) I sure hope you can. It'd be AWESOME!
Vicki wrote: "Ally, I teach 9th grade English and the first quarter I teach Hunger Games and MANY kids BEG me to read the 2nd book too. students will come in and just pick it up before class starts because they ..."Honestly, I think it comes down to the fact that they don't care. Not that they don't care about their jobs, but they don't care about going beyond them. Like, it's their responsibility to teach Romeo and Juliet, and they'll do that well. But to actually get kids to read on their own time? That's not on their list of duties, and they won't even try. The only exception I can think of is my current teacher, because almost everything we write/discuss/analyze in class is something we picked. I've written about my favorite songs, movie scenes, books, tv shows, etc. because they all somehow relate to whatever we're discussing. For the first time, people in my class don't mind writing essays because they enjoy what they're doing. That's what it should be about, but rarely is.
Or maybe it's changing now and I'm just too old LOL. That's a scary thought at 18.
NO Ally, I completely agree with you. Sadly, most teachers just do their jobs and nothing more. Luckily here in my "small" town, I have been lucky that my kids have gotten some really really GREAT teachers, in the lines of Vicki. But I think that you have experienced more of the norm. Here in Indiana, it's all about teach to the standards, not make education interesting. I LOVED school growing up, because it was fun as well as educational. I think that can be said now. :-( Anyway totally off topic, sorry!
@Megan...HOWDY! Welcome to our buddy read. We have some really stimulating and fun people in this buddy read so it'll be fun. Thanks for joining! @Becky, teaching to the standards is literally where creativity AND student interest went out the window. And thank you for the compliment.
@Ally, yes, at 18 I'd say you're almost over the hill. LOL
Yeah, Vicki I could go on and on and on about the stupid "standards" but this is not the place for that. LOL.You're welcome for the comment. It's well deserved and you're students are lucky to have you! :-)

Thanks, and I agree, but digressing can be fun, too. LOL
Are you going to try to plan reading all of this series so we can join Trisha and Gisbelle in December with book 14?
Are you going to try to plan reading all of this series so we can join Trisha and Gisbelle in December with book 14? Heck ya! Can't let my 2 girls have all the fun now can I??? LOL!

Heck no! That's what I'm saying...we're going to CRASH their party!! LOL
Thanks for the welcome guys! :)I watch the TV series all the time, it's one of my favorite TV shows. That's one of my reason for wanting to read this series just to see how it compares to the show and because I heard that the books are suppose to be really good.
Megan wrote: "Thanks for the welcome guys! :)I watch the TV series all the time, it's one of my favorite TV shows. That's one of my reason for wanting to read this series just to see how it compares to the show..."
Just be ready for the show and the books to be
ENTIRELY different
love the characters in the show!!! But many of them aren't in the books OR the ones that aren't in the show are still in the books.
it's liking having 2 wonderful series
I'm so excite for PLL show to come back on for the summer!! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! :D
I can't wait for PLL to come back on either!!! I'm so excited for the new season to start!! :) I've heard before that the show and the book are very different.

That makes me much more excited to read the books! I was hoping I wouldn't be reading and thinking "okay I already know what's happened for the past two seasons... I need to just plow through this so I can get to book 13". YAY can't wait!
Plus, I only know a few spoilers. It's too bad that I already know who "A " is (are) though. That's a shame, but whatever.
Ally, don't let it slip who A is!!! June 11 is PLL again!! I can hardly wait to see it! My yearbook class named our cameras after the characters in PLL, with Aria being our NEW & best camera. Lol
Don't worry, I won't! I don't think its even revealed in the first book though (I could be wrong). All of my friends kept telling me who "A" was in the books right after the TV "A", comparing the two. Keep me updated on who you guys think it is though as we read! I'm really interested in seeing how quickly you figure it out ;)
Megan wrote: "This PLL season looks to be really interesting and I can't wait for it to come on!!"What's happening right now on the TV show? I forget... I don't watch it as closely as I once did. Feel free to use spoilers if you want, I don't want to reveal any plot to people who haven't watched/read anything yet!
I watched a few episodes in season one. I didn't like the show back then, so I stopped watching. Seeing how much you guys love it makes me watch to start watching again :)If you have watched episode one season, (view spoiler)

It's REALLY good!!! I'll inbox you, since I don't really know how to use spoilers yet. I'm not used to it.
Megan, check this thread: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...It might help you with spoiler tags.
