I read Into Thin Air, so I had an idea what this book was about. I am not sure the Everest climb was what he was writing about. I think his idea was to show the agony the wife went through.
Mallory was a very handsome man and after doing some research I found out there are letters being sold now today in England by the son of a young woman he corresponded with during his last climb romantic in a way. Ruth did eventually marry Will and then died of cancer 5 years later. A very sad book and enteresting compared to climbs of today.
