The year I was six, we spent Christmas in Iowa with Mom's family. My uncles convinced me to leave Santa a plate of cheese & crackers instead of cookies and milk. Santa left me all kinds of goodies, including the Bionic Woman doll that I had been begging for but my parents couldn't afford. (Which should give you and idea of how old I am- LOL) He also left me a thank you note & ratted Rudolph out for snitching a piece of cheese!

The year I was 14, we had two guests join us for Thanksgiving dinner. One was my school friend who lived 2 apartment buildings over. His mom was pulling a double shift at the nursing home where she worked & her boyfriend went to HIS mom's house, leaving my friend at home to fend for himself. The other was an African student in one of Mom's history classes (she'd gone back to college that year) who was on her own and it was her first American holiday. We ended up having a blast, and both of them wound up joining us for Christmas too!

1. My great aunt's funeral- There's a post on my neglected blog about the funeral and what made me laugh. (Lunarliongoddess.blogspot.com - look for April 9, 2012 if you're interested)

2. The scene in the first Lord of the Rings movie where they think Gandalf has died and Frodo is standing away from the group staring off into the distance. Aragorn says his name and when Frodo looks at him, I did my best South Park impression, "Screw you guys, I'm going home!" before cracking up. (in my defense, the guy I was dating at the time had dragged me to the movie after a long day at work and with no dinner, so I was slap happy and ready to go home myself- AND several other people laughed too. My boyfriend, alas, was not one of them)
