My big obsession right now it the Experiment in Terror series by Karina Halle:

The romance is there, but it's slow moving. The series starts out mildly scary and then turns near terrifying. So basically, you're introduced slowly to both the sexy times and the scariness. Book one and two were great...books three and on blew my mind!!!

You should also check out the Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. They've got a bit of a twist on the whole vampire/werewolf mythology. Each book has got strong romance and great world building along with a happy ending (no cliffhangers!). It's a long series though with a confusing reading order but I've sorted them all out into an ordered list on my blog here: http://aestasbookblog.com/darkhunter/
But, in case you want the Goodreads link, here is the first book in the series --> Night Pleasures
And some other Paranormal Romance series to check out are:
Fever series by Karen Marie Moning
Black Jewels trilogy by Anne Bishop
Midnight Breeds series by Lara Adrian
Immortals After Dark by Kresley Cole
Demonica by Larissa Ione
You also mentioned "suspense" romance... now, I don't really read a lot of that genre but you might want to check out Kristen Ashley's series called The 'Burg. It has STRONG second-chance romances along with a bit of a 'crime' that gets resolved in each book. It's more focused on the romance than the crime but the romance is not the only plotline in them. Here's the reading order:

Pamela Clare's I-Team:
Extreme Exposure
Unlawful ContactHard Evidence
Naked Edge
Breaking Point
Suzanne Brockmann's Troubleshooters series:
Over the Edge
The Unsung Hero
Out of Control
Gone Too Far (those are just a few...there are like seventeen books in the series)
And if you like stand alones, Linda Howard is amazing at RS.
Mr. Perfect
After the NightOpen Season
Cry No More

I'm Brigid, one of the three Goodreads reviewers featured on "Kindle Love Stories" (along with Aestas and Duchess Nicole). I'm a 20-year-old college student studying creative writing and the visual arts. In my spare time, I read a lot ... and therefore I review a lot. I mostly read YA, although I'm open to pretty much any genre. I'm glad to see so many people enjoying the podcast and giving us feedback in this group! Nice to meet everyone!

I love to read contemporary romance and the odd paranormal too. lookin forward to gettin some good rec's and reading your comments :-)

Thanks, Elf! I'll consider what you said. And if you buy my book, any of them---well, if you're in the mood for a pushing-the-envelope romance, it might be up your alley. I just hope there are more readers like you out there!

I'm more than happy to recommend my own book, but I feel it's only fair to ask what you like to read. This group has a ton of great stuff to suggest!
A Rogue in Sheep's Clothing

Hi Hadley,
If you've never read Shiloh Walker, she's terrific at vampire, shape-shifter books (and everything else she writes). I'm not usually one for vampire stuff, but I make an exception for her.Hunter's Salvation

Looking forward to chatting with you!!

In my opinion, the greatest Alpha I've ever ... read is Jamie in Diana Gabledon's Outlander series. My sister said she once went for a midnight walk with some girlfriends. They shouted his name at the moon.

I completely agree with you Elf. Jamie is...wow. Outlander is what I consider an epic romance novel. I read it and then listened to the audio recording.

Hello everyone! Im "KK" (been my nickname for over ten years) and though I've been on goodreads for a while, I never thought to join a group until I ran out of recommendations that really thrilled me. Someone suggested a club of people like me so here I am and I've already got a list going!
I am an avid romance reader and just recently wrote my first contemporary NA. I really enjoy writing though I'm not sure how good I am! I guess we will see when my first reviews pop up. :)
I'm not really sure what my favorite genre of romance is, it all depends on my mood. I usually enjoy realistic stories over fantasy and paranormal, though one of my uber favorite series is Amy Bartol's Premonition series. (Drool, swoon, more drooling)
I looked over all of your recommendations in this thread and I'm pretty excited to check out some new books! I am in the process of moving to a new city so while I will be pretty busy the next week or so, I'll have no friends except my kindle so expect me at full force soon.
Nice to meet everyone!

I'm a big fan of contemporary romance. I prefer to read and write about strong, independent women, and there are some truly inspiring stories out there.
I am looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Great to meet you!
Nora Roberts is awesome, isn't she. What I love about her is you can pick up any book in a series and you'll still understand what's going on without having to read the previous books. And every last novel is awesome.

Duchess, what on earth is a gamma man? I only know about alpha and beta. Is there something I have been missing?

When it comes to romance, I've read a wide assortment from YA to Adult. I'll post the links in the appropriate section. If you haven't heard of Sandy Wolters, you're in for a treat.
I've written eight books to date. They range from baseball manuals to a WWII/Vampire novel. The one I really like is the story I wrote about my true love "Debbie." Is is a HEA? Depends how you look at. For me it was, because we were allowed to spend her last seven months together.

Many thanks Mary Anne.

When I'm not reading or writing, I'm the stay-at-home mom of three kids 5 and under. My husband is kind and intense. We've got a spastic dog named Molly and are ruled by two kitties, Schmoo and Maeve.
I hope you're all enjoying a nice warm summer. The best time of year for catching up on good reads! :)

Oh LOL. Thanks Mary Anne. Now I know what I've been missing! Delta, Sigma and Omega, huh?!

I stated earlier in this discussion that I go for romance heroes who are truly heroic. Where do they belong in this classification? Nowhere.
You can't call they alphas because they do something for others, though it means great personal risk, hardship, and sacrifice. No self-centered, cynical, self-pitying alpha would even consider such a course of action. He doesn't save others; he needs to be saved---by the heroine, of course.
Can you call them betas? Nope. A hero goes above and beyond the call of duty on his own initiative. A beta just follows orders.
A gamma, maybe? Forget it. They're thinkers, artists, and communicators, not doers. As for deltas and omegas, they're not even in the running.
What say you? Or anyone?

I agree with you there. I think people do not fit into one precise category; we all are a mix of two, maybe three. Most of the time a person will not act the same way facing the same or a similar situation.
Sometimes even you just need to get out on the wrong side of bed in the morning and you have a whole different situation during the day. That is, vs getting out on the right side....:)
