Liseys story, not only my favourite Stephen King but one of my favourite books of all time.
IT.
Hands down my all time favorite book.
Hands down my all time favorite book.
The Stand and The Eyes Of The Dragon.
got to be the one that got me hooked on Stephen King..... The Stand
I think I like Ballad of the flexible bullet ! :) But it's a short story :S So I guess my favourite novel is Carrie x)
Tough choice... I have heard that the King universe all revolves around It to one degree or another, so there is that... Misery for its standalone story, tied with 112263... I like the relatedness of Geralds Game with Delores Claiborne... loved the emotions in Liseys story.... haven't read any of the collaborations. Tried to get into Dark Tower. Just couldn't get there. Love the prison stories, best short story and anthology is Hearts in Atlantis. Worst ever... Cell!
The Stand, The Shining, It...all brilliant earlier works. 11-22-63 put Stephen King back on my radar.
Dark Talisman, The Stand and the Gun Slinger series. I can not pick just one!
It's got to be IT even after all these years parts of it still stick in my mind....we all float....Beverley Rogan takes a whuppin.....just brilliant
Yet with other books (Rose Madder), I can't even remember what the book was even about!!

For me it's On Writing. I couldn't have published my book without his. Thanks SK!!!
At this point, I'll choose "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon," because I think it's less self-indulgent than his longer works, but still has King's best qualities in that its well-written and suspenseful - also, the main character is one of his more likable creations - a resourceful and smart young girl who uses her wits to survive being lost in the woods.
Is it me, or IT a bit to dragged towards the end? Do not get me wrong. I am a huge King fan and loved reading It as well. But when compared to books like Shining, Stand, Bag of Bones etc, I felt, there were chapters which could have been done oway with. Starngely for me, my favourite King novel has to be Lisey's Story I guess.
The Stand, Green Mile, Needful Things and all the rest of his books. One of my favorite writers.
I like so many of his books, but my favorite ones are Pet Sematary, The Shining, the Green Mile, and also Rose Madder which was one of the most disturbing Stephen King books I have ever read.
The Shinning is my favorite. The book had more to do with the effects of Jacks Alcoholism and how being on the wagon affected his thoughts while in the isolated hotel Overlook. Jack's psychological problems made him weak and vulnerable while in isolation from the outside world. In the past he had broken Danny's arm and had gotten into a fight with a student. He was ripe for the picking if indeed any evil existed in the Overlook. I suppose that is the beauty of the story. We ask ourselves if ghosts really existed or was it Jack's interpretation of Overlook.
The one and only book by Stephen King really worth reading and re-reading is Insomnia.
There are others quite good, to be sure, yet none of those can rival Insomnia. This one is likely to become a Forever Classic.
I`m not a great fan of King, but a perfect book is a perfect book...

I loved Christine, the Shining--also gave me nightmares, On Writing, Bachmans: Rita Hayworth, The Long Walk... many others
In no particular order, I loved The Shining, The Stand, Christine and Needful Things.
Lisey's Story. I think only one other person has mentioned it so far, which means that obviously the rest of you haven't read it yet! The amazing thing about this book is that it is actually a love story for the author's wife...except with a psycho killer and some freaky, evil stuff. What's not to love?

IT was amazing and so was the Dark Tower series but I have to say, unlike a lot of others I really liked 11.22.63
Dolores Claiborne was fantastic but my favorite has to be The Green Mile
The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon or 11/22/63.
But then classics like Pet Sematary and The Stand are novels I always re-read.

Misery is my fave although I have reread The Stand and The Shining several times.
Salem's Lot, one of his earliest, still my favorite.
To be honest, tough to pick just one if you are a King fan.

Do Bachman books count? I liked the one with Rage/Long Walk/Roadwork/Running Man. Also Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption.
It, The Stand, The Shining, The Dead Zone... Those are my four favourites, and I can't decide which one I love the most.
100%, hands down, Desperation. It was the first Stephen King book I ever read, and it is so amazing!
I love sooo many, but if I had to choose a favorite, it would probably be The Shining.
I love The Eyes of the Dragon, Firestarter and Drawing of the Three. Oh, and The Stand, IT and Talisman! And don't forget Insomnia
