...I'm noticing a pattern here.

Anyone else?

message 103: by Jim (new)

Jim | 100 comments I would vote for Kenobi but I'm behind on my reading and don't know if I'll get to it next month. I didn't get to INto the Void like I wanted to this month, though Kenobi probably holds more interest for me. I've finished my dull zombie book but still have two other library books to get through before going back to star wars.

message 104: by Kirk (new)

Kirk I haven't had a chance to do one of the monthly books yet, but Kenobi is waiting for me at the library, so I vote for Kenobi as well.

School starts next Monday /sob, and my dad told me to limit myself to twelve books.

Twelve.

I have to take the Millennium trilogy because I just threw down thirty bucks on them.

And Kenobi.

I am limited to eight books. |=

(I'll end up bringing like thirty but he doesn't know this yet)

And here we are again! I'm looking for suggestions for the October book of the month. If we can't agree on one like last month, I'll post up a poll as soon as possible. But I'm going to throw a suggestion out there: Death Troopers. It seems October-ey and Halloween-ish.

message 107: by Grave (new)

Grave | 17 comments There's another new book called razor's edge that just came out. I haven't looked into it but if anyone wants to stay current that's a suggestion. Might be interesting since this takes place before Han and leia were a couple, and before Luke's training

message 108: by Alli, Fleet Commander (new)

Alli (akwinot) | 148 comments Mod
I... Don't have Razor's edge and won't get it until at least Christmas. But if we want to go in the direction of between ANH and ESB, I would recommend Allegiance and Choices of One.

Trust me if I had Razor's Edge I'd read it in a heartbeat. -cries quietly-

I don't have any suggestions this month because I have my own reading schedule that covers multiple books.

These are good options. Maybe we can schedule some books a couple months in advance...

EDIT: fixed, because I'm dumb and tired today.

message 110: by Brianna (new)

Brianna | 20 comments Still trying to finish Kenobi and about 6 other titles, so I won't be participating in October.

Alli (akwinot) | 148 comments Mod
I have a reading schedule going where I'n going to be finishing The Last Command, Heirs of the Force, two volumes of X-wing and Dark tide by the 12 of October...

I haven't worked out the second half yet. Only until fall break.

I could go for Death Troopers. I've been avoiding it, but this would give me a reason to go ahead and read it.

message 113: by Grave (new)

Grave | 17 comments Death troopers was fun, a bit silly but what can you expect from what is basically a Star Wars zombie novel? Go for it

message 114: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Overschmidt | 11 comments I keep planning on reading that one as well, but keep pushing it off for other books.

message 115: by Jim (new)

Jim | 100 comments My next star wars book will be Razor's edge. However, I have three library books to finish first so maybe that is more in line for November.

message 116: by Alli, Fleet Commander (new)

Alli (akwinot) | 148 comments Mod
I'm on a book buying ban right now and I don't want to break it, but I really, really REALLY want Razor's Edge.

message 117: by Denise (new)

Denise Morse | 6 comments Leia looks so bad-a$$ on the cover of Razor's Edge!
I am thinking about going back in time and working on some previous books, I have only read books post ROTJ.

message 118: by Jeff Diamond, Grand Moff (new)

Jeff Diamond | 178 comments Mod
Okay. Here's what we can do. I'll go ahead and post up Death Troopers for October, but we'll go through these suggestions over the next few months. Deal? How about Death Troopers in October, Allegiance for November, Choices of One for December and Razor's Edge for January (so everyone can get it for the holidays...?)

message 119: by Jeff Diamond, Grand Moff (new)

Jeff Diamond | 178 comments Mod
You might have also noticed that I've been locking the threads for books that we read three months ago. Just FYI, I'm doing this to avoid necroposting, and to try to keep people up-to speed with our current reads. That's not to say that we can't keep having conversations about these books, but I felt that we can do that in General. If anyone has any questions or wants to rant about that, feel free to do it either here or in a message to me.

Thanks!

Grand Moff Jeff

message 120: by Brianna (new)

Brianna | 20 comments Jeff, that sounds like an awesome plan!

message 121: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Overschmidt | 11 comments looks like I'll get death troopers for my kindle this week. as soon as I finish my current book, I will read that one.

Paul wrote: "Good idea! Except I just got Razor's Edge, so I could have that moved up to December at least."

Well, you could always read it now, and re-read it in January...

message 123: by Denise (new)

Denise Morse | 6 comments Death Troopers sound perfect for Halloween month. And i agree that Razors Edge would be a good one for post holidays.

Sounds good to me!

message 125: by Jim (new)

Jim | 100 comments Are we still going to do Razor's Edge for January? We missed December's title.

message 126: by Alli, Fleet Commander (new)

Alli (akwinot) | 148 comments Mod
It's up. :)

message 127: by Jim (new)

Jim | 100 comments Have we got a group read title for February? I nominate Maul: Lockdown since it just came out this week. We've been reading about the best of the best (Kenobi), rebels (Razor's Edge), and good Stormtroopers. Maybe it is time for a baddie.

message 128: by Alli, Fleet Commander (new)

Alli (akwinot) | 148 comments Mod
No, I don't believe we do. :)

Sorry I've been so inactive guys, college and I'm starting to save for a backpacking trip across Europe. Haven't had time to read/buy any Star Wars books.

message 129: by Jeff Diamond, Grand Moff (new)

Jeff Diamond | 178 comments Mod
Let me just make a little mea culpa right now. I'm really sorry I've not been on for a long while, but I'm glad to see Alli has been awesome and picked up the slack.

A lot of the things that have taken me away from the important stuff (read: this group) were minor things like buying a house, earning money, writing a book and taking care of the family. But we're back!

Anyway, I like Jim's suggestion. Maul: Lockdown sounds like a good choice. For March, I would like to also nominate either Path of Destruction or Darth Plagueis. While we've got the bad guy theme going, anyway. Any thoughts? I promise I'll actually be in touch now.

message 130: by Alli, Fleet Commander (new)

Alli (akwinot) | 148 comments Mod
Can we add Revan to that list?

message 131: by Jeff Diamond, Grand Moff (new)

Jeff Diamond | 178 comments Mod
YES!!!

message 132: by Jim (new)

Jim | 100 comments Just for reference, based on the goodreads page for Maul: Lockdown, it is a "kinda" sequal to Darth Plagueis. If we were going to do Plagueis and Lockdown, we might want to change the order to do Plagueis first for a better flow of stories. That being said, I've read Path of Destruction, Plagueis, and Revan so I probably wouldn't participate in them but I'm only one person so it's up to the group.

message 133: by Jim (new)

Jim | 100 comments Just wanted to check to see if we decided on a title for February.

Also, would anyone be interested in doing a more structured group read with a reading schedule and questions posed by a group read moderator? This would be to stimulate more continuous conversation on the book rather than just people posting their thoughts when they finish.

message 134: by Jeff Diamond, Grand Moff (last edited Feb 06, 2014 08:07AM) (new)

Jeff Diamond | 178 comments Mod
Are you volunteering? If so, just message me.

While we're working on figuring out whether to reread Darth Plagueis, let's move on to ... Revan. That'll give us a few weeks to get our ducks in a row.
