Glove of Darth Vader was actually the first Star Wars book I ever read. I was seven at the time.

The first Star Wars book I read was Galaxy of Fear. I found the first three Jedi Prince books in my house and I had no idea where it came from. I expect it was from my dad's comic collection.
I never got into the Galaxy of Fear books. By the time they started coming out, I was into the Young Jedi Knights books.
Well folks it was Thrawn by a landslide with X-Wing in a distant second. Crack open that copy of Heir to the Empire and join Captain Pallaeon on the bridge of the Chimaera. I'll check in a bit later today and we'll figure out how we're going to break this baby down. Thanks to everyone who voted! Looking forward to this!
Nope, I can do it...I created this folder..."I HAVE THE POWERRRR!!!" he bellows, holding up his sword on the steps of Castle Greyskull.
Are there really 30 people doing this? They're hiding in the shadows, if there are. Or 15 people voted twice xD
I figured there could be a moderate to high chance of 'voter fraud' for this particular election but hey, either way, we all win...we get to read an EU novel in the month of June right? :)
I don't know if they did or not Derrick. The 'poll' website I used was very basic and free so I knew that was a possibility. But everyone here seems like an upstanding buch o' folks so I'm going to assume it was mostly on the up and up.Either way, I'm already on Chapter 3 of Heir to the Empire...no turning back for me now! :D
Hello, I'm looking for some advice/information... I started reading the Black Fleet Crisis trilogy and it refers to events that I can't seem to find in the books. Such as, Luke's fall to the Dark Side, the resurrection of the Emperor, and the devastating aftermath of the attack on Coruscant. If anyone has information on where I could find this, please let me know. Thanks.
It is the comic book Dark Empire that has Luke's fall to the dark side; I remember browsing through it and being surprised as I realized that the Emperor came back to life.
Sorry for the long hiatus, everybody! On the upside, I'll be back in the States in a few weeks! What do all y'all think we should read for July? Keep going with the next Thrawn book? Switch to something else? Let's post up a few suggestions in this forum, and then I can get a poll up for a few days.
I think we should continue on. I didn't get the chance to read along, but it was nice to remember the book from others.
I didn't get the chance to finish it. This is the third time now, haha. I always stop at the same point because I just have no interest in continuing which is really sad for me because these books are so well loved by everyone. But between work and all that, I just haven't had the chance to listen to the Audiobook which REALLY helped. Maybe I'll do it on Tuesday when I have off.
Even though I didn't finish this Thrawn book, I've been calculating how much money I am getting paid and I'm planning to pretty much blow a lot of money on Star Wars here pretty soon.
Any suggestions on what I should buy? Please don't make me list all the books I have.. I have most if not all the Bantam books, and then some KOTOR stuff and some clone wars era stuff.
My first buy might be Coruscant Nights and MedStar in the SFBC editions.

Since I recently finished the entire Thrawn trilogy just last month, I am going to vote selfishly and say the next read should be Crucible which comes out on 9 July. However, I totally understand if people want to finish the Thrawn trilogy because that is what I would want if I hadn't just done it already.
Hi folks. So yeah, I'm about 50 pages out of finishing Heir to the Empire. I can honestly say I enjoyed it more this time out than my initial read back in '91. Probably because by now my brain has been 'trained' (washed?) to dig Star Wars novels plus the fact that this is kind of the exemplary way to write a EU book. Zahn's got all the goods. So yeah, my vote would be to naturally segue into Dark Force Rising but if the masses wish otherwise, that's fine too.
Just a thought, but is there anything that says we only have to do one group read next? Is it possible that we could do two since there appears to be a split. One group could do Dark Force Rising, the other could do Crucible. I would be happy to "moderate" Crucible. If not, maybe those who would rather do Crucible instead of Dark Force Rising could do a buddy read.
Oh I'm down with anything, whatever works, this EU commune is a total and complete democracy. This reread of Heir to the Empire has inspired me to alter my course (I was reading SW novels in 'timeline' order) and digest them in published order. So if a splinter group of Crucible readers crops up, all the better. You're all still invited to the year end Holocronies banquet at the local Holiday Inn. Be sure to indicate if you want chicken or fish. j/k :)
I must resist buying the Crucible books. I have not even read the NJO or anything past that era. ~sigh~ Most are packed up for a move later in the year.
I feel you there. We're going to be moving back to the States in about a week and a half (July 16 will see us back in Utah.) All of our books are there, so I'll have to get cracking on Dark Force Rising as soon as possible. But I need to get through the timeline to that point, although I don't have to slog through NJO. Good luck!
I'm about 15 days tardy with this but here's my final (albeit brief) summation on Heir to the Empire. http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
I'm very glad I re-read this. My memory of it was almost nil and I was especially thrilled by the whole Sluis Van battle at the end, very nicely done (if not a tad anticlimactic...so Lando shuts down the miners and everyone just kinda' limps away? yawn!). Still, a great read, so much fun to revisit, can't wait for Dark Force Rising, which I'll probably be starting at the end of this coming week. (must finish a Donald Westlake book and someone had the nerve to introduce me to the writings of HP Lovecraft so I've got that on my platter as well!)
We going to vote for August book reads? I'm assuming those reading Thrawn will want to wrap up the series with Last Command but there may be others interested in readying something else.
I might be caught up by then with the audiobooks. :D
(Probably not)
I'm more than halfway through Heir, finally.

I'll defintely be reading Kenobi once it's released, but since I've just finished Crucible, Darth Plagueis and I Jedi this month, I think I'll step out of the galaxy far, far away for a week or two. I can never stay away for long, though!
Sorry! My bad. Still recovering from the move. I'm thinking that we can do two books in August again, doing both The Last Command and Into the Void. I'm kinda curious if anybody is actually participating in these conversations, though. Let me know what you think.
I kind of take the Star Wars books like I take fan fiction. I expect very little and if I get anything more than chatspeak garblegoo, I like it.
Even if it takes me forever to read them.

Well, my brothers and sisters, I have officially failed you. After crossing the finish line with Heir to the Empire, I became distracted with big sprawling fantasy novel called "ACACIA" by David Anthony Durham.http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/56...
It's wonderful but awfully dense, with a continual shifting of POV, secrets and lies on a political stage, deposed kings, banished heirs to the throne, all the goodies of a read that wholly and utterly takes over your life.
So I'm on self-imposed, Acacia-imposed EU hiatus until I finish this baby, which should be another two weeks or so. Dark Force Rising awaits on my coffee table next.
I'm here! I'm paying attention this month!
We only have a few days left in August, so go ahead and nominate a book for the September Holocronies Reading Room by either posting it here or sending me a PM. I'll post up a poll tomorrow or the next day.
