R7: Team #15 ~ Fearsome Fifteen!

For supernatural shelf I'll be reading

I got very little time to read during my trip last week but I'm back home now and I should get to my paranormal book shortly as well.

Shelf #8 ~ 07/21/13: 'paranormal mix' or paranormal
Book:

Finished: 7/27/13
Rating & Review: ★★★, This one was okay. It wasn't bad but it was kind of long. It featured WereHunter Ravyn who was kidnapped in his Leopard form and rescued by Susan, who was allergic to cats. The irony!
Anyway, they were both lonely people who saw the hurt in the other. I felt awful for Ravyn for the way his family treated him so i was happy he found someone who understood and appreciated him. Plus she wasn't a damsel who needed rescuing.
Anyway, out of everything in this book, I wanted to slap Nick. He is working my last nerve with his pity party. Next, I want to drop kick Bitch Queen Artemis, who is so pathetic she always has to resort to blackmail to get laid. LOSER!
I am trying to read my way to Acheron's book because he needs a hug from me!

what happened to the DH?"
I am still reading them but I have to get this book back to the library soon

I really liked this series overall, but I was semi-disappointed in this installment. The first half was more running around that got boring really quick. I felt like by the time I reached the 25% mark, I should have been further along in the story, but I wasn’t. We were finally introduced to Maya’s brother, who was an antagonistic jerk, and that got old, even if he had a good reason for being the way he was.
Things finally got interesting at the half way mark, but Kelley Armstrong also decided that was a good point to turn the romance into a love triangle out of nowhere. This aggravated me to no end. It was pretty easy to see where things would go from there and I got so mad at one point when she seemed to vilify poor Rafe just to make Daniel look even better. If it wasn’t for this turn of events the last half would have warranted this book four stars. But I am too pissed to give it that now.
I really like how things came together at the end as far as the larger picture goes. I think this sets up a third series set in this Cabal world that could be an adult series five to ten years down the road. I would be very interested to see what happens to this group at that point. Hopefully Kelley will make that happen. It might make up for what she put Rafe through in these books.

This was a pretty decent YA fey fantasy. Meghan is a good heroine who shows some brains and pluck when facing a new & dangerous world. I love stories with fey/fae/fairy mythology so while a lot of the characters and "rules" are familiar to me I did enjoy this take on them. Grimalkin steals all his scenes as cats are prone to do. Although it does not end with any sort of a cliffhanger there are enough plot threads leftover that I'll be reading the next one.

I'm starting that one tomorrow. I got out of order. :)

ETA: Yay! My book is on there so I should be done with the supernatural shelf book tonight or tomorrow!

Shelf #9 ~ 07/28/13: Supernatural

Rating & Review: ★★★, This book just confirms what I already knew. Nalini Singh is just not my cuppa. She's okay but I don't feel her books like many others do. I didn't like Talin, but I liked Clay. I don't know about continuing this series.

I really love Rachel Vincent! She has sucha fun captivating writing style and did not disappoint with this book. Can't wait to finish the series!

She's so possessive, but she didn't want to be with him for a while. I realize she was all messed up from her foster father. i wish Singh had started off with her trauma in a prologue because what I started with was "you are such a violent beast. you scared me. why are talking to faith, what is she too you?"
thank you! But I will slowly continue to read the series because I really enjoyed Faith and Vaughn's story.

I don’t know how Rachel Caine does it, but I would love for her to teach me her tricks. I have read a lot of her books and she is still able to surprise me with the feelings and the twists and turns that she fills her books with. While the Weather Warden series was non-stop action and “What could possibly happen next?”, the Outcast Season series is a little more stable in that the big bad is the same one throughout all four books. Although we know the enemy, it still doesn’t make life easy on Cassiel or on the reader.
This installment in the series was even creepier than the last. The children that Pearl is capturing and then damaging, nearly beyond repair, are freaking scary. And the cult that Pearl has doing her dirty work are scary in their own right. They all believe that they are doing the right thing and that Pearl will save them all. She has done such a masterful job brainwashing people that even the strongest minds have nearly fallen victim to her.
Aside from the action and creepiness, this book was full of emotion. Rachel Caine is freaking phenomenal in creating such amazing characters that you can’t help but feel so deeply for. Cassiel, who up until she was turned human, didn’t bother with emotions, is filled with them in this book and most of the time she doesn’t know what they are or what to do with them. I can relate to that.
I love this series and the Weather Warden series that it was spun off from. I cannot wait to see what happens next, although I’m hesitant to finish the next book because it is officially the last and I’ll have to say goodbye.

I liked this one but it definitely had its ups and downs for me. The mystery plot meandered a bit and I thought that a lot was made of Charley's PTSD symptoms only to have them pretty much disappear whenever it was convenient. Charley was also a bit more of a damsel in distress in this one. I don't remember her having to call other people to save her as often as in this one. I understand it with the demons but she even needed rescuing from the human "bad guys".
I'm still not sure about Reyes or their relationship. It seems to be based mostly on the fact that he's hot. I have no issue with hot guys but I would think that after 4 books there would be a bit more to it.
Still there was a lot that I did like. For me, the humor has worked better in the last couple of books than in the first ones. Some of the plot lines are actually pretty dark and I found the humor intrusive at times early now. Now I feel like the humor is more natural, and more a break from some of the darkness instead of "hey look at me! I'm so funny!" I also liked that Reyes did cough up a lot of answers about Charley's origins and some of her powers. That part was really interesting and opens up a lot of avenues for the series. And I have to admit that I didn't figure out the mystery part until the end. So that's always good. Overall, it was a very enjoyable entry in a series that I've come to like very much.

Loved it! and hated that its the last one in the series. Some neat little twists in the storyline and got to love Dorian! I was disappointed in the ending and the choices Eugenie made.

I am loving this series like crazy. Dante is my favorite so far. That might change as I read the series. I really didn't know if I would like Tess but in the end I really liked her. I can 't wait to get in to the next book.
