R7: Team #15 ~ Fearsome Fifteen!

I like that series. I had to get to book 2 before I stopped with the BDB comparisons, but i love that series now"
Same for me. But I think now I actually like it better than BDB.

Book:

Finished: 7/18
Rating & Review: 3.5 stars. I think I don’t love this authors writing. It’s still not that engaging. I kept hearing it was HAWT, but it wasn't.
This book introduces us to Serena Cross, who was trying to comfort her best friend Mel, who believed she just saw aliens. Serena played the dutiful friend, listening to her bestie, who sounded drunk and a little insane. Of course, we quickly find out that Serena is NOT insane and there are people from the Department of Defense who don't want her spreading her story around. They send an Arum named Hunter to seduce Serena and find out exactly what she knows, what evidence she has and who she has talked to. That is how Hunter came to insinuate himself in Serena's life.
As Hunter got to know Serena, his attraction to her started blurring his objectives and he got involved with her. Could Hunter do what the DOD required of him or had Serena come to mean more?

Thought this was a good 2nd book but it has been months and lots of other series in between that I was a little lost during parts. Loved the world building and the characters although its driving me crazy trying to figure out what is going on!

This was another fun entry in the series but I felt like it could have benefited from being a bit shorter. I don't know what I'd cut in particular but there were times when I felt like it was dragging. I love the banter between the main characters and it was really fun when Martini's dad gets in on it as well. Those parts of the books are great fun. I've decided that I have to think of Kitty as kind of an old school, female James Bond - one who solves every problem, figures out all the connections, and is irrisistable to the opposite sex - then I can go along for the ride. If I try to take it too seriously then a lot of stuff that may annoy me comes to the surface. But even though I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first there was still enough fun and wit to make me want to pick up the third.

I'll update the master list and request our stamp as soon as I get to work...well once I get to work and after I have a meeting with my manager.

It wasn’t that long ago that I discovered the Lux series and fell in love with Daemon and the world that Jennifer created. It reminds me so much of one of my favorite TV shows and I really can’t seem to get enough. I devoured the books in the Lux series so fast that I was dying for more. Then I heard about Obsession. It’s set in the Lux world, but is an adult stand alone?! I was sold immediately and so was a copy of the book.
I found this book absolutely fascinating. It was funny at times, super hot at times and nerve wracking at times and I loved every minute of it. What I absolutely found awesome was that while the Lux series is told from the point of view of the Luxen, Obsession was told from the other side. Hunter is an Arum, the supposed bad guys of the alien races, but we learn more about them, and the Luxen, in Obsession and it turns out that everything isn’t as black and white as it seems. My mind was kind of blown by this and I think it’s great that Jennifer went that route.
Hunter and Serena were pretty hot together, but there were moments I was annoyed by them as well. Most of the time though I loved their banter and Serena’s smart mouth. I hope that we get more of books like these. Perhaps this won’t be a standalone and we get can get an entire Arum series. I’d love to learn more about Hunter’s siblings. And I really want to know more about Luc and Paris (characters from the Lux series that we also see in Obsession). Hopefully some of this will be in the super long list of books that Jennifer has coming in the future. I’ll definitely be crossing my fingers.

can you at least watch tv?
