Judithe hasn't posted it yet. She's probably still asleep. ;-)

message 157: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 1183 comments Yeah no new shelf yet. It should be posted in about an hour and half or so if she's able to do it about the same time as the last few weeks. Hopefully it's not a winning shelf for anyone, but at least a shelf that gives us 3 in a row.

Ezi Chinny (ezinwanyi) | 2516 comments Thanks ladies. Question: is Beautiful Bastard (Beautiful Bastard, #1) by Christina Lauren on cover love shelf? I'm on phone and can't tell .

No worries. I was looking to see if any of the books (there are only 2) that I finished this week are on there and they aren't either. Lame. lol

Paris (pah13) | 1183 comments I will likely read Boundless (Unearthly, #3) by Cynthia Hand for this shelf.

message 164: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 1183 comments So the new shelf gives every team that didn't have 3 in a row, 3 in a row, except for us and team 14. It gives one more team (maybe 2, I can't remember) 4 in a row. WHY ARE WE SO UNLUCKY?!?! lol

Moonglow (Darkest London, #2) by Kristen Callihan

Date Finished: 6/30/13
Rating: 4 Stars

I think I liked this one a bit more than the first (which I also enjoyed). I think that's because there was no mystery surrounding what the hero is. We met him in book 1 and we know Ian is a charming Scottish lycan. Daisy & Ian are a great couple and they have a lot of good banter. They are also both more than what they appear on the surface.

This is an interesting historical paranormal world. Set during Victoria's reign, there is no general knowledge of the supernatural. There are the usual races (vampires, lycans, etc.) but there are also other creatures that we aren't necessarily used to seeing. I can't get into what they are as it would spoil some of the plot. Miranda & Archer, from book 1, are involved again and Poppy's story is set up nicely for book 3. But the focus is clearly on Ian & Daisy, their struggle against a sick werewolf (one who has given over to to wolf side and is no longer in control) who seems fixated on Daisy and on their growing relationship. I'm looking forward to more in this world.

If I Should Die (Revenants, #3) by Amy Plum by Amy Plum
Finished: 6/30/13
Rating: 4 Stars

From the first book I really enjoyed this series. It was different and fresh as far as the supernatural element, which I felt was sorely needed when Die For Me came out. While I still very much enjoy this series, I think it would benefit from reading straight through from book one until If I Should Die. The long waits between books kind of kept me from being able to really be invested since over that time I lost my compassion for the characters a little. Thankfully I read Die For Her right before If I Should Die. That helped remind me what happened in the first two books, but it also broke my heart and made me a little bitter while reading this book (I freaking love Jules).

There were also some moments when I thought this book dragged a little. I really liked the mythology and the history lessons we got, but they definitely took us out of the action and I really expected there to be a lot of action and of course some extremely emotional moments. Overall the book was pretty great for the final book in the series. I only have one problem with the whole thing and that is there wasn’t enough Jules. Can we have another Jules book or maybe a Jules series? Pretty Please Amy?!?!?

That happens to me a lot. "Oh yeah I'll add that to my currently reading cause I'm totally going to start it tonight." Then a week later it's still there but I haven't even touched it. Then sometimes I don't even get to add a book to my currently reading because I finish it before I even think to.

This book wasn't as bad as i heard, though it wasn't good either. The plot was pretty weak, hidden behiind lots and lots of sex.
Basically, you have a young intern Chloe Mills sleeping with her boss, Bennett Ryan. Her boss was mean to her most of the time, but was sexually attracted to her. I never did understand why he was a jackass, and why she was a wise ass too, but whatever.
That is the basic premise, I can't stand my boss, but I can't get enough of his body. What's a girl to do and how will this sex thing affect my career?

The writing and the dialogue--the whole plot was so weak, it was disappointing. But I didn't think it was horrible.

This book featured an "outsider" Rose Drayton who lived in the Edge, which was on the boundary of the Broken & the Weird. She was the caretaker of two boys as her mother died and her father ran out on them.

Declan Camarine, a blueblood noble, shows up and wants to marry her because she has special magic but Rose wants someone who wants her for her, and also will take on her brothers. Look for Declan to try to earn her trust show her that she can count on him to take care of her and her family.

message 188: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 1183 comments Oh speaking of shelves...so this Saturday is the last Saturday I will ever have to work (unless I change jobs again, but I don't plan on doing that), so after this week there is a small chance that I might be out and about playing with my nephew when shelves are called. So if you come on and the shelf has been called, but I haven't posted it here, please feel free to go ahead and post it or if you don't want to, then I'll post it as soon as I can.

I just wanted to give you guys a heads up about it. I'll still be on top of all my other captain duties, but posting the shelf might suffer a little. I've been waiting over six months to get my weekends free again and I have to work a 7 day work week to finally make it happen, but it's gonna be worth it.

YES, yes, read this one first. I mean, it's not like we would get bingo if you finished your angel book today anyway.

Boundless (Unearthly, #3) by Cynthia Hand by Cynthia Hand
Rating: 4 Stars
Finished: 7/5/13

I have been a huge fan of this series since the beginning. It was such a fresh and interesting supernatural twist to the young adult genre and it held that freshness all the way through to the end. This final book did seem a little preachier than the others in parts and at one point I did have to put it down and let it sit for a few days. I’ve never been much of a Tucker fan; I’ve always liked Christian a lot better. Tucker just seemed too perfect and Christian was always the underdog who was mistreated even when it seemed like he would win.

So many things get wrapped up in this book. Everyone’s purpose seems to be fulfilled and we learn some interesting things about some of the characters. We get a very heartwarming seen between Clara and someone close to her, which I won’t ruin by saying who and we get an epilogue that is set 9 years in the future so we get some closer. However, there is something that we don’t get which is why this was marked down from 5 to 4 stars and I’m hoping that maybe someday down the road we’ll get it. (view spoiler)

I enjoyed this series and I will definitely check out more by Cynthia Hand in the future.

I will decide tomorrow :)

message 200: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) | 1183 comments Oh crap...I should look and see if Heart of Obsidian (Psy-Changeling, #12) by Nalini Singh is on there since I'm about to read that too and then whichever I finish first (one's Kindle, one's hardcover) is the winner.

Seriously? Last Sacrifice (Vampire Academy, #6) by Richelle Mead is on the Dystopian shelf? Huh.
