R7: Team #14 ~ Moonlight Furies [WINNING TEAM]

I think the game will end up next or the following given the number of winning shelves there are. The supernatural shelf gave us our first 4-in a row and that's the only way we have the possibility to win. So I suggest we focus on getting the 'aliens' and supernatural shelf this week so we're ready if 'tortured hero' is called next week or the following.
There are only two non-winning shelves next week - sexy and wishlist so if either of those comes up next, then our possibilities to win with either of those are as follows.
If sexy is called - that belongs to 3 rows:
top row - no chance as we only have dystopian and we'll need 3 more shelves
first column - no chance as we only got supernatural
diagonal (sexy to shifter) - we need two shelves (tortured hero and shifters) but shifters gives the win to somebody else and tortured hero already give the win to us.
If wishlist is called - that belongs to 2 rows:
4th row - no chance as we'll need two shelves that give the win to other teams
first column - no chance as we only got supernatural

I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore - (7/29/2013) ★★★
Shelf: Supernatural
Interesting start to a series with a lot of potential.
Nine Lorien children with their guardians have been sent to Earth just before their home planet was destroyed by Mogadorians, another alien race that's already destroyed their home planet and moved on to Lorien and now have started infiltrating Earth.
The story focuses on number Four, current alias John Smith, who has just moved to yet another small town in hopes of avoiding detection while waiting for his Legacies, aka powers, to develop.
I didn't feel the romance between John and Sarah from the start and I didn't like how screwed up John's priorities became in part because of it. His behavior is understandable up to a point given his age, but he really should have known better and not done a lot of the things he did that ended up getting them in danger.
I'm curious to see what happens next to John and his new entourage, but I'm more curious to learn more about the other five, starting with Seven's story in The Power of Six.
Edit: Before The Power of Six, Six's Legacy was published, which contains number Six's story.

I think the game will end up next or the following given the number of winning shelves there are..."
Well, even if we're not in the top running for winners we might as well enjoy our last books of this round!
I've already finished my books and updated our lists, so happy reading to the rest of you and don't forget to post your reviews once you're done!

My Review: An enjoyable instalment to the series, I enjoyed getting to know the quiet Howard better. It was nice to see him opening up to someone and confronting his past. It was nice to see Tino more and I enjoyed his interactions with Howard.

Definitely! But we should be ready if our winning shelf is called.

My Review: This is the 14th instalment in the Love at Stake series and in my opinion it's one of the strongest yet! I highly recommend reading these in order to get the full enjoyment from them.
Dougal has been through a lot in his 300+ years of life, he has loved and lost and more recently he was severely injured in battle. We join him as he is recovering and trying desperately to find the correct path on which to continue his journey to defeat Master Han and the Malcontents(that sounds like a badly named pop group!). When Dougal first lays eyes on Leah he mistakes her for someone else, he quickly realises he is drawn to her for an entirely different reason. Their courtship isn't easy, first he must compete with a fellow vampire and friend and then the challenges really begin.
I found myself fully invested in this one, I laughed out loud, I cringed, there may even have been tears... and don't get me started on the state of my nails!
Dougal has always interested me and not just because his origins began in my homeland of Scotland, he's a vampire who wields a sword and wears a kilt in battle - who wouldn't want to get to know him better? I always got the impression that he had many layers and I was going to enjoy them being unravelled and I am pleased to say that Kerrelyn did not disappoint.
Where Wild About You felt like a filler book this one was the opposite, there was considerable development in the overall story arc alongside the storyline for the main pairing. Things are really heating up now and I am eagerly anticipating the next one!

How is everyone getting on with their reading?

I have my tortured hero book picked out too, LOL!

It's hard to write this review since this book was the last in this trilogy without giving away any spoilers. I really liked the ending to this trilogy! The author did a good job in wrapping things up!

There's an ice cream social happening at the library where I work tonight in a couple hours and I'm going to be part of it. I'll try to start my aliens book tonight after I get home.

Woohoo! I should have my Supernatural book finished by Saturday the latest. :) It has 500+ pages so it's taking me a while.
And before you ask me why such a long book, I had a scheduled buddy read with a friend of mine from a couple of weeks ago. I was lucky that it fit the shelf!

Oh, I do love the sound of that. I'm definitely an ice cream girlie :))))))

It was to celebrate the end of the summer reading program at our library. A lot of people showed up to this thing.

Title/Author: The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima
Read for shelf: supernatural
Date finished: 8/3/13
Rating: ★★★★½
Review: I'm kicking myself that I didn't start this sooner. What a great book! Awesome cast of characters, magic and a great plot that involves the Princess Heir and a former streetlord with lots of pain and political intrigue. Definitely my kind of book! Completely recommended even if you're not into high fantasy.

I've this on audiobook so it shouldn't take as long to get through hopefully! I'm making some progress in my aliens book too!

It's only shelved by one person - I see 'tortured shelf' in page 5 of the books' shelf but I'll find it in the tortured shelf as well so I can post it here just in case. ;)
ETA: It's in page 49 in the main shelf! And just by the description, you could tell this is a really tortured hero! HAHAHAHAHA!!!

I'm not a big fan of this series, but i don't dislike it either. Because i started it, i feel like i should finish it. I don't know, I'm weird like that :)
This book was as you can imagine about demons. 13 years ago Jack called up a demon, because he was dying and needed saving. So he gets saved, but he needs to pay for that with his soul and now the demon comes to collect. It was too gloomy book for me that's why I gave it only 3 stars.

The first book ended so amazingly and i had one of those moments why in hell i waited to read the second one so long. Jacinda and her family are going back pride and now Jacinda is not on the top, but in the bottom. She needs to prove herself. This book was great escape and full of excitement :)

Title/Author: Saving Grace by Norah Wilson
Read for shelf: tortured-hero
Date finished: 8/4/13
Rating: ★★★½
Review: Very emotional and angsty read about a wife who abandons her husband because of another man. But on her way out of town, she has an accident, gets knocked in the head and forgets why she was leaving. The husband is crushed thinking that his wife could have betrayed him but nurses back to health anyway. Then, they find some weird stuff that doesn't add up and they have to uncover the mystery as to why she left the man she loved deeply.
There's a lot of angst in both sides. She cannot believe she could have been unfaithful and the husband cannot help but keep asking what he did wrong. This back and forth was the best part of the book because you saw genuine feelings of hurt, betrayal, anger, guilt, you name it.
The weakeast part of the book was the romantic suspense plot. I couldn't believe Grace as an investigative journalist - she didn't seem too bright...that plan of hers didn't make much sense (a worldly woman wouldn't trust the word of a crime boss) and I didn't like how easy said crime boss came down, specially when Ray had been saying he had been so careful.
I really liked the setting in Canada and wished we'd had more detail about the town (for a while it was difficult to figure out how big or small it was.)
I enjoyed it though and will probably check out the rest of the series (I read it without reading the first in the series and didn't feel like I missed anything so it can be read as a standalone.)

Naked in Death by J.D. Robb - (8/04/2013) ★★★★★
Shelf: Tortured Hero
Awesome!
I have been reluctant to start this series because of the number of books, but I should have known better! Set in a futuristic world with interesting electronic devices, it has a dark, compelling mystery and the beginning of a steamy romance between multilayered, well built characters.
I absolutely loved Roarke! He is intelligent, confident and considerate and knows what he wants and does his best to get it. The chemistry between him and Eve is palpable and I enjoyed every single one of their scenes.
The narrator does a fantastic job portraying the different characters and I'm looking forward to listening to the rest of the books in the series, glad that there are so many following.
Their adventure continues in Glory in Death with a new mystery, which I'm hoping will be as realistic and well thought out as the one in this book.

Our Supernatural stamp is on the way - Congrats!
After Amy finishes her Aliens book we'll get our stamp there too and we'll be three books away from winning this round of Bingo!
So, happy reading and I hope you enjoy your books as much as I did mine! :D

You now have an updated BINGO card with a stamp on 'supernatural'.

I hope it doesn't lose its appeal after a few books... That's always a worry with long series. Have you read tham all Sandra?
