R7: Team #13 ~ Reign of Assassins

Well, I'm guessing Adam will be my man..eventually.

She's my favourite author discovery this year. I just love the very flawed and real characters she writes about. And usually there's a gripping story going on as well.
Steph wrote: "I have that TBR, Kerstin. Glad to hear it's just as addictive and a good read."
It very much is (though I still prefer EiT)! Hope you enjoy it as well!
Lisa, I'm looking forward to your review. I like a good dystopian story, but lately I'm a bit hesitant about the YA genre. This one sounds interesting though.

A light and fun read. I really enjoyed the main character Charley, a PI and grim reaper. She's witty and sarcastic, strong and sexy. The love interest is also quite sexy, though we don't get to see him all that much throughout the story. But when we finally find out more about him...let's just say I'm very curious and excited for the next book! The side characters are all interesting and lovable as well. I had a great time reading this book.

Week 2: Book Boyfriends
Book:Shatter Me
Date Read: 6-12-2013

Hmm. I don't know about this book. I'm going to work this pro's and con's style.
Cons: 1) I feel like it isn't a whole book. If I didn't already know I had a couple more ready to read I think the ending would have pissed me off. i hate that kind of no ending -ending.
2)I like to have a story unwind but I think I would have enjoyed a bit more world building and description. I read the whole book and I'm still not really sure what Juliette's powers are or what is going on in her world. Some things felt a bit random.
3)Some of the stuff Juliette said/wrote to herself didn't make sense. she must have really been a little crazy (with good reason). I think at one part she refered to Adam's face as broken harmonica? There were a bunch of oddly stated poetic statements.
Pros: 1) I love a book that has me rooting for the bad guy and the good guy.
2)I like a book that starts down one path and then drops you off on a totally different one. This went from one's flew over the cuckoo's nest to X-men.
3)In the end - I want to read the next one. I feel like that is where the story will really begin.
4) As book boyfriends go - Adam is pretty dreamy. I may be turning into some crazy old pervert but I'd like to drag him from the a YA book into an "adult" book instead.
5) As far as being dystopian.. I think this was dystopian lite. Which is OK for me.

following on directly from where divergent left off i had a little trouble keeping up for the first 2or 3 chapters (had to go back and read a synopsis) however once i (remembered) caught up there was plenty of action, twists and turns to keep the pages turning. i'm really interested to read the next one as there was a little chiffhanger/shock at the end

just waiting on stephanie's review for this week and we can put in for the book boyfriends stamp and lisa and i need to review for our free space read :)

Sadly, I should have switched my book boyfriend book to the one I am about to finish, I am pretty sure its on there =(

Might go for

I'll check out the shelf and let you guys know what i'll be reading. I hope to finish my free space book soon too.

This book was decent. I think I liked the first better. I was also thrown by the huge part of the story pretty much being about Kylie being a super horny teenager. That didn't really come through in the first book, but it definitely came through in this one. I also think the author made Kyle a bit too dumb in this one. To me, at least, it was pretty obvious who the ghost was talking about. So, I felt that was drawn out a bit more than it really should have been. I also am not really digging the whole triangle romance going on. Actually, I think most of the relationship issues in this series so far are turning out to be pretty lame. Too much forced teenage angst in this book I think.

My fav series Belinda, have fun :D

I'm not a 100% sure yet, but I'm most likely going with

Kevin Hearne can't go wrong with this series. i continually find myself snorting and LOLing at the one liners. Atticus and Oberon are great characters and we see a lot of Coyote and Granuaile in this book too. Really looking forward to the next one! if you haven't picked up this series yet - DO!

Let me start by saying that I love the Parasol Protectorate series. I had some seriously high hopes for this book and I was a tiny bit dissapointed. While I still enjoyed every word and still find the writing and characters charming and witty - it felt like the story was a bit of a rehash. The story is fun and clever and perhaps I'm being to hard on it. Even as I finish this I'm thinking about changing my tune. Maybe I'm just out of touch with my inner 13 year old.
The story centers around a irreverent young lady who is "a scruffy youngest daughter and mild dissapointment". She finds herself invited to attend a finishing school that is not what she expected. It ends up teaching young ladies the art of espionage and exposes them to all sorts of people and paranormals. There is a little mystery, mean girls, awkward teens, ballroom dancing and cheese pies.
The story is quirky and fun. Ok, I loved it. Talked myself right into it. Can't wait till the next one.

I picked this week's book by title alone. It made me giggle and I could use a laugh. My strong heroines book will be : Touched by an Alien

Belinda, I love those books. I find myself trying to talk everyone I know into reading these but as soon as I get to the talking dog I loose them..
I love the Kate Daniels series also. Even the spin off book with Andrea is great - dare I say better then the first couple Kate books.

Thanks Sandra, we were lucky. nothing like some of the people hit with the tornados and fires. I should be greatful I just some food from the freezer and fridge. Lucky enough we are back up an running.

Once again we have a copy of LL's Breed series.
This time we have the leader, Justice's story. He is firmly of the belief that if he takes a mate she should be Species. So he is instantly confused when he spies Jessie, cause she's human.
Jessie has been working on the Spec Ops team that finds missing girl Species. They are frequently abused and tortured and scared of the male team members. So Jessie can take care of herself.
Justice still goes through the whole angst of "I'll hurt you because you're human" thing. Which gets really old. But what he was really saying is .... this could be dangerous, hate groups, politically, emotionally, do I deserve happiness?
It all ends up with a group of deranged Species and an attack inside the compound, sorry 'Homeland'. Which of course happens in the Breed series all the time.
Will I read the next one? Of course!

I'll update shortly and put in fit the free space stamp! Go team!!!

Finally I arrived at Regin's story and I loved it! It took me a little to warm up to her reincarnated berserker; after all he did put her, her friends and allies through a lot of pain, but in the end end he turned out to be alright ;)
I also enjoyed finding out a little more about Lothaire, and of course had a few chuckles about Nix.

Oh this series. I am in total love with it. Not often do I find a book I will stay up for, but this one did for sure. I had to force myself to stop so that my tired self could get some sleep. Otherwise, I would have finished it a bit earlier than I had.
This story is great. It just keeps you drawn in the whole time. You never quite know who is on what side and what motives they have. I really like Cal, but he doesn't get near as much attention as I think he should sadly.
It will be interesting to see where this story is going. That was a pretty nasty cliffhanger at the end.
