Me either. I have to hide my book purchases from my husband. He just doesn't understand why I would need to buy 3-5 books a week. Although you would think he would notice my TBR pile grows faster than my kids.

I've preordered the MMP and I would've bought the kindle to tide me over, however, they won't let me buy it so I'm first on the list for the library when its released here next week. Fingers crossed that the library hurries up.

Steph Ann | 1220 comments lol, Tiffanie, I don't think my fiance quite understands it either. He likes to read, but he definitely doesn't read as much as I do. I told him once how many books were on my TBR list, and the look he gave me clearly said he thought I was crazy. :)

Sandra, you're lucky to be first on the list at the library! My luck never works out that way. I waited about two months for my turn to read Ever After (The Hollows, #11) by Kim Harrison from the library. The whole time, one my coworkers kept telling me how good it was and that I needed to read it ASAP. It was torture!

Sandra | 25908 comments My husband keeps asking me, every now and then, "Do we need all these books", my reply "Yes, I haven't read them all yet" ROFL He doesn't seem to realise I have the same again on the computer.

Then he says "Can we get rid of any of them" my reply "NO." I'm lucky cause he does bring me bookcases, so I must be doing something right :DD

Daughter of the Blood (The Black Jewels, #1) by Anne Bishop (from SOS Bookshelf)

Read: 6-7-13
Rating: 3.5 stars

Review:

I was a little torn on what rating to give this book. The first 15-20 percent went really slowly, as there was a lot of world building, character introducing, etc. I'll admit I'm still not 100% clear on how things operate in this universe, but I find it very intriguing.

Once I hit the 20 percent mark, with every page, I found myself more and more interested and invested in what was going on. By the time I reached the end, I didn't want it to be over. However, that first 20 percent made it hard for me to justify giving the book 4 stars, which is why I'm going with 3.5.

This is definitely not a light and fluffy read. It's incredibly dark, especially when you consider the fact that the heroine is only 12 at this time. I'm interested to see where the story goes from here and will most likely pick up the 2nd book sooner rather than later.

Free Space: Before I Wake (Soul Screamers, #6) by Rachel Vincent

Title/Author: Before I Wake - Rachel Vincent
Series: Soul Screamers
Read: June 9, 2013
Rating: ★★★★
First time author? no
To-Be-Continued? yes

Review:
After If I Die I wasn't sure I was going to continue the series. I so did not like the whole Kaylee-Tod thing. But of course, I continued the series and I'm glad I did. I totally loved Tod in Before I Wake. He has turned into such a sweet guy and he's such a funny character. I've decided I like Kaylee and Tod together. This installment is full of twists and turns as well as lots of dead people. Yup people are dropping like flies...damn those hellions!

I even liked Sabine and Sophie as both really came into their own in this one. And Luca, yup I will definitely be reading the conclusion to this series sooner rather than later.

Review:

Ten Tiny Lies is one of the better contemporary romances I have read lately. It did have a similar vibe to On Dublin Street so if you liked that one, you'll probably like this one too. Kasey was almost too unlikable at times, but the other characters really made up for it. I saw the twist coming from a mile away, but I thought it was pretty well handled. All in all, a pretty satisfying read but I'm not sure I would have classified Trent as a book boyfriend.

Blood Hunt (Sentinel Wars, #5) by Shannon K. Butcher

Read: 6/11/13
Rating: 4 stars

Review

I always forget how much I enjoy this series. I've been looking forward to Logan's book for awhile now, and it definitely didn't disappoint. Hope was a very strong heroine, which is something I've always liked about this series. She was definitely willing to throw herself into a fight rather than just sit back and let the guys do all the work. She and Logan definitely had chemistry, and I was very satisfied with how everything progressed throughout the story. Some future storylines are set up here as well, and I'm very interested to see where they go.

A Feast for Crows (A Song of Ice and Fire, #4) by George R.R. Martin

Read: June 13, 2013
Rating: ★★★

Review:
Let me start my review how GRRM ended this book...
”Hey, wait a minute!” some of you may be saying about now. “Wait a minute, wait a minute! Where’s Dany and the dragons? Where’s Tyrion? We hardly saw Jon Snow. That can’t be all of it. Well, no. There’s more to come. Another book as big as this one."

His brilliant plan was to split this massive novel into two and instead of using the time frame to decide where to split it, he just took out half the characters...the good ones! And not only left the lame-ass characters but added a few new lame-asses. Does this mean that the events in A Dance With Dragons are going to occur during the same time frame as this one or afterwards? That will be mighty confusing.

This book was harder to slog through than the first three put together as all my favorite characters were missing and the ones left were just plain old boring. Very little of any import happens. Heck I think GRRM could have paraphrased the entire book into a prologue for A Dance With Dragons. Hey if he can use ravens to impart important details, why can't he use the same method for most of this book. I honestly had to force myself to pick up this book each and every day though I had more difficulty forcing myself to read more than 50 pages at a time. It was just mind-numbingly boring and repetitive. I was thrilled when I read the final word just so I could move on to a hopefully more exciting adventure with Dany, Jon Snow, Tyrion and Bran.

The only things I liked about this book were Jamie's story (he's slowly redeeming himself in my eyes), Brienne's story (though at time this bored me to tears) and crazy Cersei's (view spoiler) (boy was I routing for that.) I also liked Arya (though I can't figure out what the heck she's doing as Cat) and Sansa (though she creeped me out everytime she called Petyr father.) The rest of the book, GRRM could have kept to himself. I like Samwell too but his portions were incredibly boring and filled with barfing and crying. Yeah that I could have done without.

Steph Ann | 1220 comments I'm looking forward to your reviews, Breann! Both of those books look really good (and have gotten great reviews).

Barbara, I was just reading an article earlier this week that mentioned that A Feast for Crows was probably the least popular book in that series because of the lack of Dany, Tyrion, and Jon. I'm only at book 2 so far, but I'm not looking forward to #4!

message 78: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ It was a real chore to read because I really didn't care about any of the characters. It really was a 1000+ pages travelogue where nothing was done and little was learned. Good luck.

Read: June 14, 2013
Rating: ★★★

Review:
I guess I'm part of the minority as I didn't love this book nor did I love Braden. Braden was such a caveman that he tended to get on my nerves. Oh yeah the sex scenes were hot as hell but outside of the bedroom, neither main character was really likable. Joss came across as a flighty, bitchy, unsympathetic character. The only character I really liked was Ellie and even she got irritating with the whole Adam thing. I guess this was just too angsty for me. Don't get me wrong, it's not a horrible book but I won't be continuing the series.

Book Boyfriends: Twice Tempted
6/14/13
★★★★✩

Well, they don’t call him Vlad the Impaler for nothin’. Vlad is one seriously bloodthirsty vamp and he has absolutely no qualms about it. And Leila loves him just the way he is.

When we start off Vlad and Leila are having some relationship issues. Leila wants commitment in the form of “I love you” and a toilet installed his bathroom. It’s really the courteous thing to do. Making your girlfriend walk down the hall to another bathroom? No, I don’t think so. But you know how these heroes are, they’re all, “No, I’m incapable of loving anyone. Deal with it. You are my woman and I am caveman. Spread your legs for me.” Luckily, Leila is a kickass heroine in her own right and left without looking back. Well, maybe she looked back a little but she still left his arrogant ass. Maximus took Leila back to her old carnival friend, Marty, until she could figure out what to do next. While at the carnival someone is out to hurt Leila, resulting in her capture. Who comes to the rescue? Dracula himself.

Oh, I seriously love these two. They are both such strong characters and could each have their own book without any romancing and I would still be craving more. But them together? There aren’t many PNR couples that can live up to Vlad & Leila. Like I said, they had some issues in the beginning but they were resolved in the most perfect way possible. But saying anything more would be some major spoilers. So much happened in this book for their relationship and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Before Leila is captured and then rescued by Vlad she spends quite a lot of time with Maximus. I love him. I want him to have his own book. Can he please get his own book? He’s not quite as in your face alpha as Vlad or Bones, but more of a quiet, I’ll be there when you least expect it type of alpha male. I was so sad to see his heart broken in this book and I would love to read about his HEA.

Of course, this was action packed, with some super hot sex scenes, major alpha male-ness, a strong heroine, snarky comments and LOL moments. So, it was great. I didn’t really expect anything less.

What to say...what to say...

It was fantastic? I loved every second?

So, that doesn't really do this book justice and nothing that I write ever could. Nobody writes PNR quite like Nalini Singh. I had huge expectations here and they were met and surpassed. Not only in the love story but in the progression of the plot. Everything fans have been waiting for happened in this book, but it's still only the beginning of what's to come next.
