Lilian Darcy (liliandarcy) | 5 comments Even though I'm an author trying to edit my own profile, Goodreads isn't letting me. Every time, I get a "You have to apply for librarian status to edit this" message. Well, I did that, and I think I'm a librarian now, and it still isn't letting me. Surely I should be able to edit it because I'm the author.

Can anyone please, pretty please, give me some guidance as to what I'm doing wrong, because soon I'll have no hair left.

You have author status, not librarian. However, that certainly should allow you to edit your own author profile.

What exactly are you trying to do?

Lilian Darcy (liliandarcy) | 5 comments Just trying to update my bio, for now. I'm so confused. I get to my author dashboard, then go to Edit Profile or Edit Data and try to input changes into the box where my bio is. Then I hit Save and get this message saying I'm not allowed to edit data unless I'm a librarian. I hadn't been to Goodreads in a while (still don't feel I have a handle on it, so was avoiding!) and a couple of months ago I tried this, and then applied for librarian status because of the message, never heard anything back. Took a deep breath today and tried again, thinking maybe I had been made a librarian, but same thing is happenig as before.

Thank you for responding! Makes me feel better already, even though problem is not solved!

Try clicking the "edit data" link on this page.

(You'll only hear about librarian status requests if they are granted, and they won't usually be for things that current status should allow you to do.)

Lilian Darcy (liliandarcy) | 5 comments That's what I've been doing, Rivka. Just tried it again and still getting the same message. Why does it hate me?

I think I might have fixed it. Try now?

Lilian Darcy (liliandarcy) | 5 comments You have fixed it! That is fantastic! Thank you so much, Rivka!

Yay! There were actually two profiles for you, accidentally. (Due to a bug we had about 6 months back, I think.) I merged them, so it should be permanently fixed.

L.M. du Preez (lmdprz) Hi, I realize this thread is really old and the problem has been solved, but I came across this on my many searches and found that I'm having this exact issue too! I've been trying to change my author profile for months and I keep getting the message that I need to become a librarian (which doesn't seem to solve the problem).

Any help would be so greatly appreciated! Please! For my hair's sake.

YES! Oh my goodness, thank you so much! You're wonderful!

GR policy is for initials in author names to have no space between them, so please delete the space.

It's still better to create a new thread than bump one several years old, which can be quite confusing.
