Will this work?"
Yes - just for fun and our interest, when posting your task, give us a few words/a sentence about what major life change is involved. (not required)
I borrowed a task for Fall 2010, which I think was before I joined this group."Go to Flashlight Worthy, browse around a bit, then choose a list and read one book from that list."
The difference in my task and the original is that, for repeats of the task, I do not require that I stick with the same list. My goal is to explore new books that I might not have known about.

There are some great books on those lists! Have fun!
I'm sorry, I forgot about this.Read any book by a Pulitzer Prize winning author/finalist other than the title which won or was nominated.
Here's mine, to try to clear some books from the shelves:Read any book added to your Goodreads shelf in 2007.

Good job!

I am also going to complete Jayme's task since I am taking a course over the summer which has a lot of these!Read a book that has Fantasy as one of the genres on the book page.

Have fun with that course!

To make it less awkward, you can eliminate the references to winning/won (as the winners are included in the books that are nominated/finalists):
Read any book by an author nominated for the Pulitzer Prize other than the title which was nominated.

I thought the task was just for winners or finalists, not all nominees.
Read any book by an author listed as a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize other than the title which was nominated.
Liz M wrote: "Read any book by an author listed as a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize other than the title which was nominated."Better - I'll make the edit!
Christine wrote: "How are we to know who all is nominated? I meant to include winners, and to broaden it a bit, to include the finalists. I have no idea who all was nominated."See the reworded task that Liz posted in #66, and which now appears in Post #2 for the task you are doing. I think this will make it easier for you.
My task will be called Favorite Authors. I need to read a book by a favorite author - defined as an author whose books I have read at least three of at the date of the start of this challenge.I think that is good. Let me know if this is something I can run with.
I'm trying to stay with the baseball theme. I'm calling my task Extra Innings. Read a book by an author who has published more than nine books. The chosen book should not be one of the first nine published. (Feel free to re-word if too awkward!)
Okay, I admit, I was wondering where the task like if I had one wish, I'd wish for more wishes was translated into something like read as many books as you like sort of thing.... :-)I'd like to adopt Jayme (the ghost reader)'s task if I may. I've a ton of fantasy books on my TBR as well.

It's a popular task!

Would you share good ones you find? I am always asked for ideas for our debate team!

And I don't know this was on your radar, but I'm considering The Collected Stories of Katherine Anne Porter for 20.4 Baseball Hall of Fame (she's on the Texas Leaguers list), so you can claim that combo.

I just finished Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman by Haruki Murakami. I'm a confirmed Murakami fan, but I found this collection of 24 short stories wonderful. Also, let me recommend Willful Creatures by Aimee Bender. I picked it up just to look at it a while back and ended up reading the whole collection in a single day.
OK, I think I finally decided what I want to do...Read a book that has Historical Fiction as one of the genres on the book page.

Got it!
Elizabeth (Alaska) wrote: "10.9 Design your own task! Write a task for yourself! If you repeat this task (can be used 3 times total), you must use the same task each time. Cannot be used as a combo."Does this mean our task CAN get combo pts?
Camille wrote: "Does this mean our task CAN get combo pts? "When you claim a book for 10.9, you can claim a combo for another task. However, if you claim a different task, you cannot claim 10.9 as a combo.
10.9 The Witches Brew

It is going to be
Debt: The First 5,000 Years by David Graeber
I got it for my birthday and couldn't find another task for it. I have several others among my TBRs if I have time.
Ok, mine is going to be:Read a book that is related to its author's TED Talk.
I'm reading Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead, and Sheryl Sandberg did a TED Talk about the need for female leadership, which is also what the book is about.
I'd like to repeat the Road Trip task from last summer:"Read a novel in which the main character goes on a journey. Ideally, the book should comprise a single over-land journey taking place in one world (no sea, air, or space travel on this one)."
I'll be reading this book: Ostrich Boys
My task:"Awesome alliteration": Read a book where the capitalized words in the title is an alliteration.
Hope it makes sense...

Since June brings the start of summer...read a book where the main character has made a new start. For example, life-changing career move, or any MAJOR lifechange.
Will this work?
