SOLVED. A book about brain mice experiment science going wrong [s]

I remember vaguely a book about a scientist that had two mice, one was taking a drug to make it smarter and it worked so the scientist started taking the drugs.

The rest of the description is a SPOILER:
The scientist became so smart that he started to become a huge jerk to everyone. and then the mouse died.. so well I guess he died too.

You might be talking about "Flowers for Algernon". If that were the case, he wasn't a scientist, he was a man with a low intelligence and the scientist tested the drug on him. :/ Is that the one?

This sounds like a slightly misremembered recollection of Flowers for Algernon. Even if it's not, you'd probably like it; it's one of my favorite books.

If it's not, let's try to get some more info. from you. Was it a book for adults, teens, or kids? When did you read it, and did it seem old or new at the time?
