questionre. e-books from library & highlights

I had an ebook on my kindle fire hd from the library (overdrive). It expired, went away, and I took it out a second time right away (the next day). The kindle remembered where I left off (cool!) but says I have no bookmarks and highlights. I had made many when I had it borrowed the first time. I see bookmarks and highlights on kindle.amazon.com. I don't want them to disappear from kindle.amazon.com, will they? Is there any way to get them to show up in the borrowed book again? Thanks in advance. ~Lauren

Lauren, did you try calling Kindle support on this one? I thought notes and highlights were supposed to be remembered after a library book is returned.
