*Vote link has been fixed, the poll page can also be found in your top right corner, in the directory under r/books* Look this way ---->

Hello everyone!

Welcome to another month and another book!

I am glad to have wrapped up The Master and the Margarita with many of you. I hope it wasn't too hard of a read. I have to point out a special thanks to David for really helping me understand much of what I felt I was missing out when reading it. THANKS!

Moving on, we have June fast approaching!

I am a bit late to this month's suggestions, my apologies. I will have a poll up as well with my suggestions. As always, let me know if you have any suggestions for the book of the month!

For June, our book selections are:

1. The Girl Next Door by Jack Ketchum

This is a very graphic novel depicting the abuse and death of Sylvia Likens

Number 101 of Reddit's Top 200 books.

Reddit list here

2. The Lottery by Shirley Jackson

Unusual stories brought together in suspense. Often listed as a book everyone should read for its impact.

3. 1Q84 A Murakami novel, the famous Japanese novelist. Often praise as his best work.

4. The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch

A fantasy almost multi-genre novel, nominated for many awards the year it came out.

5. The ProgramBy Suzanne Young. A new book that has come out in April and is making waves with its dystopian background.

Make sure to VOTE HERE on our poll page to pick your book for June!

As always, feedback and suggestions are welcome!

David Ranney (davidranney) The Lies of Locke Lamora for me. Been meaning to read it for a few years now. I would also be content with Murakami.

Jennifer | 185 comments If The Lies of Locke Lamora is chosen, I won't join, since I've read it recently, but I urge you all to give that your vote! Phenomenal read!!

The Poll link has been fixed! Sorry about that.

And Jennifer, I'm glad you like the book, but sorry you read it recently. Maybe you can offer us your input anyway of what you recall on it :)

I was sorry I didn't join in the last read, and while I have been interested in 1Q84, The Lies of Locke Lamora, with the help of Jennifer's backing, might just be the one I pick.

message 8: by W.B. (new)

W.B. Dallas (wbdallas) | 26 comments I think I would be okay with any of these choices but 1Q84 and The Lies of Locke Lamora seem the most interesting to me.

I had to vote 1Q84 though because I love Murakami

Ashley (icecheeseplease) I have also been wanting to read the Lies of Locke Lamora. Or 1Q84 would be a close second!

Looks like it's going to be a tough decision! Even I am torn between each book!

As your mod, I'll be your tie breaker if there needs to be :)

message 11: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (icecheeseplease) It looks like Lies of Locke is going to win!

@Jennifer, I hope you still follow along with the discussions and give us your input!

message 12: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 185 comments I will definitely stay up to date on the readings. I hope you all like it-- I hate to give bad recommendations. But the book is just a lot of fun.

message 13: by W.B. (new)

W.B. Dallas (wbdallas) | 26 comments Well it looks like the Lies of Locke Lamora won. I just picked it up from the library yesterday. Looks like it will be a fun read!

message 14: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (icecheeseplease) I am also looking forward to this. I look forward to hearing from everyone!
