Andrew✌️ (andrew619) | 335 comments Yesterday, I've finished The Scar, an incredible book! Definitely China Mieville is an author I want to read again!
Today I started a collection of stories by H. G. Wells, the first is "The Invisible Man".

I did; it was amazing. But there were some very dark moments. I'll have to read some of her other work. Karen Slaughter's ability to look into the souls of her characters and build tension is incredible.

Aditya Finished The Little Sister The Little Sister (Philip Marlowe, #5) by Raymond Chandler by Raymond Chandler. Rating - 5/5

Another great addition to the series, can't say this enough times if you like crime fiction you should read Raymond Chandler. And if you don't like crime fiction you should still read Chandler.

Rhian (rhianlovesbooksx1f4d6) | 508 comments Nick you should try blindsighted by Slaughter, its the first of the first series and from what I remember a really good one, I only have 1 book left from her second series and 1 stand alone of hers left to read I think although pretty sure she has another book out soon

Sounds good, I'll do it, thanks. though first I have to get through End of Watch, and a great book of short stories I'm into. More about that soon.

One of my favorite reads of all-time (Swan Song)! I hope you love it as much as I have.

message 4067: by Aditya (new)

Aditya Finished Mr. Mercedes Mr. Mercedes (Bill Hodges Trilogy, #1) by Stephen King by Stephen King.

A bit cliched in in parts but still much better than what a lot of genre writers would manage, King's latest foray outside the supernatural impressed me enough to seek out the remaining two books in the trilogy. Rating - 4/5.

My brief review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

It's a lot of people's favorite, especially among Post-apocalyptic fiction.

message 4071: by Aditya (new)

Aditya Finished Finders Keepers Finders Keepers (Bill Hodges Trilogy, #2) by Stephen King by Stephen King.

A simple thriller that's more than the sum of its parts and another good reason to suggest to no other prolific author comes close to being as eclectic as King.

Nick Iuppa | 4272 comments Gavin wrote: "I'm currently reading Oliver Twist"

Yeah, a good shot of Charles Dickens is a pretty good way to know just how great writing can be. Dickens, I think, too was dismissed by critics for writing too much for the popular taste.

Lorraine (saanichlori) | 25 comments I'm reading The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey. It moves quickly - good so far.

message 4077: by Nick (new)

Nick Iuppa | 4272 comments Just finished End of Watch. I'm sure I'm one of the few readers who had a problem with Brady... but that was in book 1 - Mr. Mercedes. Still, the feeling carried over to End of Watch, even though he was a far better character in this book, and his evil plans were as black as they could ever be. I think I'd better go back and re-read Mr. M, to try and figure out why I didn't think he was believable. I may wait till I get through book 1 again before writing a review of end of watch. But one thing that might be worth noting for folks who haven't read it yet... there's plenty of supernatural, or at least "beyond human" stuff going on here.

Angela Marsons' DI Kim Stone is definitely a winner!

Rhian (rhianlovesbooksx1f4d6) | 508 comments I read birdbox in one day it was pretty grim I felt really down afterwards, I shouldn't have read it all in one go, I still thought it was good though

message 4088: by Aditya (new)

Aditya Finished Trouble is My Business Trouble is My Business by Raymond Chandler by Raymond Chandler and Mulholland Dive Mulholland Dive by Michael Connelly by Michael Connelly.

Two short story collections, the first one quite good with one of the best introductions I have ever read while the second one is glorified promotional material that tries to pass itself off as a bunch of short stories. If you are a fan of either author check out these collections otherwise stick to their novels which are much better.

I have to make it through this time!

Any thoughts?

Nick Iuppa | 4272 comments An almost done with a re-read of Mr. Mercedes. Also into Bones of the Moon (Answered Prayers, #1) by Jonathan Carroll ... required reading for my upcoming novel which is magical realism as is Bones of the Moon. So far it's great.

Aditya Finished End of Watch End of Watch (Bill Hodges Trilogy, #3) by Stephen King by Stephen King. The weakest book in the Bill Hodges trilogy but still worth a read for the genre faithful. It's good to see the series being wrapped up just as it had started hinting it might overstay its welcome. Rating - 3/5
