I'm sure the printed book is great, but this story was perfect for audio. Crazy funny fantasy, wonderfully written and enthusiastically narrated.

so far I'm still in the first part of the book, getting to know Flagg and Roland (seems strange saying so). But yes, I imagine it a colorful place..

I read it quite a while ago... when it first came out I guess. I've read a lot of Moore, but I've never tried his audio. Thanks for the recommendation. I'll give it a shot.

Enjoy, Doreen, it's a great book!

Hey, me too, finished it yesterday =)
4 stars from me, it was good, but a bit long

That sucks. I have been excited to read this for almost a year! Too bad. Did you enjoy The Troop?

I liked The Troop, but didn't quite love it. There were a lot of things about it that I thought worked and some that didn't. Nonetheless, based on The Troop, I was really looking forward to this. (I was number one on hold for it at the library.) This has nothing that worked about The Troop, plus all of its problems and then some.

Thanks Michael! I'll keep all that in mind, if I decide to buy it or not. Disappointing.

If you read it, let me know what you think. Other people seem to like it though it does have a lot of bad reviews on Amazon.

That's his best book. Very funny.

Night Sins & Guilty as Sin by Tami Hoag Both books are very good and they tie to each other so great but I think Night Sins is alot better then Guilty as Sin was maybe because liked Megan O'Malley more in Night Sins then Ellen North In Guilty as sin
I also read Missing Justice by Alafair Burke Its the 2nd book of her Samantha Kincaid series I really not too crazy about this series as I am her Ellie Hatcher series
I read Kill and Tell by Linda Howard didnt really care for it but it was alot better then her Ice Book i read in December
Last I read Blood Memory by Greg Iles I LOVED IT! I couldnt put it down but I wasnt shock that the grandfather was a sicko still very good read!

Power Play by Catherine Coulter
The Broken Places by Ace Atkins
Skeletons by Kate Wilhelm
Strangers by Dean Koontz

It's next on my reading list, although I have to say, when you finish one Tom Robbins novel you really feel at a loss and want to start another immediately.

So, the real question here Michael, is why did you take the time to finish the book? When I commit to reading a book and announce it on goodreads I feel compelled to finish it. But I think that's wrong. Too little time to be wasting my readings on junk. (Please note, if you're currently reading one of MY books, please ignore that last comment. Of course, I hope I'm not writing junk, but King probably had the same feeling when he wrote Desperation.)

I kept reading for a number of reasons. As a horror writer myself, I feel it's important to know what is selling, current, popular, etc.
I also kept reading because I was getting madder and madder at the book the more I read. It was like being in a bad relationship and I wanted to catalog all of my grievances so that when we split up (or wrote my review), I could demonstrate just how bad the relationship had been!

Sort of a combination of revenge and community service. :-) Makes sense. Thanks.

I hate to think of it as revenge, especially since I've been on the bad end of reviews. But that's life as an author. When I give a big chunk of my free time over to a writer and then end up feeling like they haven't taken me seriously as a writer, then I get pretty upset. So yeah, I guess revenge!
And I didn't even get to all of the annoying writing things Cutter does in this book. He's in love with trying to capture the "sounds" of things. Instead of just writing, "It slithered down the corridor" we get, "It slithered down the corridor going splttttiiieee..." or some such nonsense over and over. I could go on, but I won't!

BTW, sure notice differing opinions on this one by some of my respected friends. We'll see.
