I picked up Lisey's Story and never looked back. It was a little hard to keep up with at times, switching past-present-further past, especially near the end, but I really dug it.
Creepy but heartbreaking.
The "lighter read" this time is Cold Fire by Koontz.

I have read Infinite Jest and now am in Gravity's Rainbow, so I am holding off on Finnegan's Wake for a while. I also have The Beautiful and Damned on my shelf. Let me know how it is.

I will, so far I am really enjoying it! Thanks for the sugestion, I think I will do that. Finnegan's Wake seems pretty daunting, definitely want to break myself in!

Thompson is great, have you read anything by Hubert Selby Jr.? May not lighten things up, but a great writer!

I have heard great things. Where should I start with Selby?"
I started with Requiem for a Dream, the writing style takes some getting used to but it's worth it. Last Exit to Brooklyn is another well known one by him, but I just ordered a few other ones by him that I hadn't heard of. I'll keep you posted, but I'm sure they'll be just as good as the others!

After finishing the Green Mile, I read Lisey's Story then Joyland. I really liked them both. A lot. I'm now in the middle of Rose Madder.

Tom....I do love the Good Doctor, and have fallen off reading Tom Robbins.

I've been looking around for a new audio book and liked the idea of skinny legs and all, but unfortunately no audio version. I settled on Even Cowgirls Get the Blues. You're recommendations have been right on Longwait, so I'll take your word on Tom Robbins. Also reading the New John Locke novel THIS MEANS WAR. That's a very guilty pleasure.

Awesome... have fun!
TheLongWait wrote: "Ok Tom and Jessica....picked up Jitterbug Perfume and Requiem for a Dream today, along with The Corrections (which I read digitally already and loved) for $10 today. Love used bookstores! Look forw..."
What a bargain! Hope you enjoy them, I look forward to hearing what you think of Selby!

I love that book so much! :)

Same here! I still like to put people into two categories...cowboys and angels. :)

I love that book so much! :)"
I'll get the e-book right now.

Hope you like the style of the narration... that's what it's all about. I think it's really funny.

About halfway through Revival, up next is A Prayer For Owen Meany.

The Dark Half. I am so hooked. So far is just PERFECT. Great balance between real and supernatural. I can't wait to finish it, and I really hope the ending's going to be good as well.

I just started Inherent Vice because I learned they are making it into a film. I always like to read the book first!
