This thread is to talk about ANY book you are reading that is NOT Stephen King, regardless of genre or style. You can post about any book!

Keli (motroth421) | 26 comments Wise Cat - I will definitely check back in when I read Midnight Library. Thanks!

Joan | 39 comments Golly...I wasn't trying to say everything we like or post here had to resemble Stephen King's style of writing...I merely said that if you went into reading Midnight Library thinking the other realities were anything like those you have read about in King books they are not. That is why I was so disappointed in this book. I wasn't looking to read a suicide prevention help book with preachy suggestions for how to live a better life.

I don't think anyone thought you were. Please, keep posting! It's interesting to see what others are reading, enjoying or disliking.

That's what I thought but I couldn't tell, as I didn't join this thread from the beginning and there are way too many posts to read through. :-) Just following maybe a couple of years ago, I don't know.

I guess I misinterpreted that sentence, especially the "usual" part. :-) Okay I'm too literal sometimes....

Well I'll be starting The Iron Sword by Julie Kagawa next week. It's #2 in The Iron Fey: Evenfall trilogy; it's a YA fantasy series. I just devoured the first 9 books I read so far.

Thanks for this. :-) Yes it is interesting to see what people are reading and how they like it. It gives me ideas too.

This thread is about all books, even Stephen Kings.
Let us enjoy our share of reading.
I once was a boy scout and the only two merit badges I got were for swimming and reading.

Technically it's called "Other Books (non King)" so we shouldn't talk about the King books we are reading, but no one wants to discourage anyone from posting, so sometimes people do anyway. This group is easy going with no real "Thread Police" unless someone is being mean or inflammatory.

I'm probably in the minority, but as good as Silence of the Lambs is, I think Red Dragon is even better. I can't wait to hear what you think.

Are you reading these in anticipation of the Netflix series? I am so excited I cannot even express it! I was reading these as they came out and can't even think how many times I've reread them!

Wise Cat (wisecat) Kandice glad there’s no “thread police” lol.

I’m reading from 4 books at the moment though don’t usually read that many at one time. Once upon a time by Gloria Vanderbilt, Serpentine by Jonathan Kellerman, Endgame by David Baldacci and File M for Murder by Miranda James.

I’m only reading Serpentine for a local in person book club.

Ira Levin does such a good job of walking the razor's edge between horror and spoof. This one and The Stepford Wives are just genius!

I remember seeing that movie many years ago, with Katharine Ross as one of the main characters. I didn't know it was based on a book!

Gary | 229 comments I only had seen just ending of the movie.
I am planning to read more IRA Levin book and his play Deathtrap.

Wise Cat (wisecat) Once upon a time by Gloria Vanderbilt is written as if by a child or teen. Almost done thankfully. Endgame is really good, making me want to read more by David Baldacci.

Finally finished Serpentine, just 2 stars from me. Still I might try another one of Kellerman’s books someday….Almost done with File M for Murder by Miranda James.

I've not read them yet. What would your opinion be on reading them in chronological order or publication order?

message 9185: by Kandice (new)

Kandice | 4387 comments I would read Red Dragon, then Silence, Hannibal and Hannibal Rising. I think that is publication order, but I KNOW it's story order.

I was just thinking about how top knotch the movies & series based on those books are. I haven't finished Clarice, but I really like it so far. I listened to all of the audiobooks about 6 years ago.

Cobaltdragon | 59 comments Just finished rereading Salem's Lot a little while ago. First time was in the 1970's and have to say after second read - still definitely one of my favourite vampire novels- second only to Dracula. Currently back to The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice. Next back to some old King favourties like Carrie and many others.
