What Are You Reading Now? Pt 2.
Feast of crows George RR Martin Mrs Miracle s Christmas Debbie Macomber Worst case and 20th Victim James Patterson and Envious Lisa Jackson
Currently reading "The Murder of Roger Akroyd" by Agatha Christie. The May classic book read for "EVERYONE has read this but me" group.
Keli wrote: "Just finished "Rabbits" by Terry Miles. Currently reading "Rock Paper Scissors" by Alice Feeney."I just bought Rabbits!
I just finished "The Murder of Roger Akroyd". I've decided to keep going with my Agatha Christie introduction so I've moved on to "The Mysterious Affair at Styles". This one is a little harder to follow.
I just finished "The Mysterious Affair at Styles" by Agatha Christie. I just started "Birdman" by Mo Hayder. My first time reading Mo Hayder. Fingers crossed.
Marvel's Doctor Strange 2 hour audiobook. I bought another one from Chirp Doctor Strange: The Fate of Dreams, A Prose Novel that I plan to listen to next.
Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley. Was supposed to read it back in high school but "SparkNote"d the project bc my schedule was too busy at the time, so I'm finally getting around to it.
Cassie wrote: "Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley. Was supposed to read it back in high school but "SparkNote"d the project bc my schedule was too busy at the time, so I'm finally getting around to it."One of these days I'll watch the show then read it.
Currently reading a handful of different books. Started Forgotten Realms series-almost finished with the first book, Canticle, and am reading A Bazaar of Bad Dreams-starting the third short story in the collection
I need to read (listen to) Dark Matter soon. People keep recommending it. It's been on my Want to Read list for a long time.
Blake Crouch: I read the Wayward Pines trilogy after watching the TV show & more recently, the Forward Collection (of short fiction) including Summer Frost.
I just finished "Dark Matter" by Blake Crouch. It was fantastic. It's about the multiverse. What would you do if you could change places with another version of yourself? Good stuff. I'm currently reading "The Kind Worth Killing" by Peter Swanson. So far so good!
Keli wrote: "I just finished "Dark Matter" by Blake Crouch. It was fantastic. It's about the multiverse. What would you do if you could change places with another version of yourself? Good stuff. I'm currently ..."Both are really good books!

I'm currently ..."Sounds similar to Midnight Library by Matt Haig, where one has multiple versions of oneself in many universes simultaneously. The caveat is you can only take that version's place when you're between life and death.
Keli wrote: "Wise Cat - Midnight Library is on my want to read list. I'm looking forward to reading it."It just blew me away, I swear. :-) I'd like to be another version of myself in a much better life and world, especially these days.......
I suffered through The Midnight Library unlike all the high praise it seems to get from others. I thought the alternate realities would be something along the lines of Stephen King's portals into other worlds but it wasn't like that at all. I found the book preachy and pretentious and not at all what I expected. It was a suicide attempt followed by the individual hovering between life and death and imagining what other choices could have been made that would have led to perhaps a happier life. Each "reality" proves to be impossible and in the end the decision has to be made whether the life you have lived is worth continuing and working to make things better. Sorry but this book was just not my cup of tea and I'd be surprised if other King fans would find it anything like their usual reading material. This was more of a self-help book than a mystery or suspense novel.

I'm loving The Fireman. Next is Machinehood with Sword and Laser book club. I'm also reading Free Comic Book Day issues & catching up on the Marvel Star Wars comics.
Reading The Space Opera Megapack: 20 Modern and Classic Science Fiction Tales and Wolves of the Calla

I loved The Fireman too. Not sure how far you are, but when I attended a book signing for this, Joe and his sons passed out little kazoos and we all played a song from the book. It was a hoot!

Different strokes for different folks, as the saying goes.
Though I like King, I read a lot of other books that are not like his worlds. Maybe you thought it was going to be like The Dark Tower in some ways? Anyway I thought this topic is for any non-King book one is reading, not just books that aren't written by him but still resemble his writing. :-)
