Kandice wrote: "Derrick wrote: "Esteban's Quest by Nick Iuppa"Nice!!!"
It's the second book I've read by him.

I've also read two and really liked both.
I started Ghost Story by Peter Straub a couple days ago.I loved The Talisman, and I liked Black House. The only other Straub I read was "Lost Boy Lost Girl"; I wasn't a big fan.
I heard Ghost Story is supposed to be one of his best. Definitely a slow burn so far but I really like his writing style here. Straub loves using colons
Looking for a new read but just finished 'I Travel By Night' by Robert McCammon Thoughts on this one..

His car had been in the underground garage in central La Sentencia, at the only building that could possibly be considered a high-rise… five stories tall. Sounds like where I live, Pueblo, CO lol
currently reading The Stand. Almost halfway through. i think Nick Andros so far is far and away the best character. I feel like the Randall Flagg dreams they're all having are becoming repetitive. Wish we had more back-story on him so far

Rob Lowe played Nick to perfection and I never see anyone else when I reread now.

I think Nick Andros is one of King's best characters ever, even after his use of characters with disabilities has come in for criticism.

Derrick wrote: "J. wrote: "I'm about to read Doctor Sleep... is it worth it??"It's definitely worth it!"
thank you! was a little hesitant to get excited for it, now I dont have to be!
Bingooo! wrote: "I am about to read Desperation. I found a second hand paperback edition. Is it worth it?" I read it for the first time a couple of years ago after it sat on my shelf for years. Definitely worth the read and a good example of what King was putting out in the mid '90s.
Michael wrote: "I'm reading The Green Mile by Stephen King for the first time."I believe that's the group read for April. I'm definitely looking forward to reading it then. I've not read it before.
I'm actually doing a group read with it right now, we do one every month on the 19th.On litsy.com

J. wrote: "I'm about to read Doctor Sleep... is it worth it??"Very much worth it, just don't hold it to the same bar as The Shining; Rose the Hat and The True Knot are among King's best villains.
Here's the link to my spoiler free review for Esteban's Quest https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I've not read nearly enough Elmore Leonard! I've only read The Switch and Rum Punch. They were awesome especially Rum Punch!
Took a chance and started reading "The Hidden Girl and Other Stories" by Ken Liu. Already very impressed.

Can't wait to hear what you think of it.
Unfortunately, I have to agree with you. I thought the setting was well done but I wanted the plot to go further. A lot of the plot was just the "lore" of the place and not too much happened in the present. I felt like I knew what was going on a little before it was revealed and then it just kind of played out. I also thought it was pretty repetitive. Noemi had repeated thoughts about characters and the whole "snake eating its tail" was really over used
EDIT: My review for it
