Can't wait to hear what you think of it.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with you. I thought the setting was well done but I wanted the plot to go further. A lot of the plot was just the "lore" of the place and not too much happened in the present. I felt like I knew what was going on a little before it was revealed and then it just kind of played out. I also thought it was pretty repetitive. Noemi had repeated thoughts about characters and the whole "snake eating its tail" was really over used

EDIT: My review for it

We all read it together last year. Very early King "Shop" vibes.

Brian Sullivan (sullichin) | 34 comments I started Ghost Story by Peter Straub a couple days ago.

I loved The Talisman, and I liked Black House. The only other Straub I read was "Lost Boy Lost Girl"; I wasn't a big fan.

I heard Ghost Story is supposed to be one of his best. Definitely a slow burn so far but I really like his writing style here. Straub loves using colons

Joseph | 7 comments currently reading The Stand. Almost halfway through. i think Nick Andros so far is far and away the best character. I feel like the Randall Flagg dreams they're all having are becoming repetitive. Wish we had more back-story on him so far

Have you seen the 90s mini-series? Rob Lowe played Nick to perfection and I never see anyone else when I reread now.

I think Nick Andros is one of King's best characters ever, even after his use of characters with disabilities has come in for criticism.

I read it for the first time a couple of years ago after it sat on my shelf for years. Definitely worth the read and a good example of what King was putting out in the mid '90s.

Very much worth it, just don't hold it to the same bar as The Shining; Rose the Hat and The True Knot are among King's best villains.
