It’s good so far (half-way). It’s not on the edge of your seat reading but it holds my attention and it’s a fast read for a brick of a book.

Thanks, Kandice, for the recommendation! I definitely plan to watch the movie afterward. I am kind of embarrassed to say I have never watched the movie.

Edward Norton is one of my favorite actors...Brad Pitt not so much....

Mike (theneverendingtbr) I've just started Infernal Parade by Clive Barker, hope it's a good one! :)

Kandice | 4387 comments Derrick wrote: "Edward Norton is one of my favorite actors....."

Did you see him play Aaron Stampler in Primal Fear? The book was terrific, but then I saw the movie, and because of Norton, it blew the book out of the water! Richard Gere and Laura Linney were also superb, but Norton was just amazeballs!

message 8364: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 747 comments Edward Norton is one of my favorite actors, too. And yes, Norton was great in Primal Fear! I haven't seen it in years....I just might have to watch it soon!

The book is well worth the read if you can get your hands on it. Knowing the...twist, doesn't make it any less compelling.

I have seen Primal Fear and I loved it! Don't much care for Richard Gere though. I blame my mom. She watched way too much Pretty Woman when I was growing up. Have you seen The Score or American History X? Also, I did not know Primal Fear was a book!

message 8369: by Erin (new)

Erin (ems84) | 2661 comments Edward Norton is one of my favorite actors, as well, I try to watch all of his movies (if I can). The last movie I saw of his was Motherless Brooklyn. I think he should have won the Oscar for American History X, it's such a great movie and he was brilliant in it. All the movies, already mentioned, are worth checking out. I also really liked him in the dark comedy Death to Smoochy.

Robert Kratky (bolorkay) | 54 comments I'm just about to start King's magnum opus, "Dark Tower: The Gunslinger" (I think one of the things that's been holding me back all these years are the "academic" and mythical attitudes towards this tale... I thought I would love it, but it's so hard for me to get into it when I despise the main character and just want him to get knocked off...I'm on chapter 4 and believe the book has great value so I'll finish...but I'm not really enjoying it!

I think it's impossible to enjoy, but you're right that it is very worth reading. Not that all of aren't aware of just what monsters we can become when left to our own devices.

It was just ok for me. King mentions this book a lot. So I knew the how it end. King uses this book in his "Hearts in Atlantis" book. Hearts is one of my favorite King's novel. The movie of this book was just so so.
