You should definitely read it if you are either into or want to get into Victorian Literature or to dive deep into the origins and foundation of mysteries/thrillers as we know them today. It is thus far fascinating. The epistolary narrative is held magnificently as well. Cheers!

The Biblio Bimbo (thebibliobimbo) I've been reading "The Bonfire of the Vanities" for a few weeks, because I actually really love the style it's written in. So I kind of don't want it to end. Also, every character is extremely flawed, and that's my cup of tea.

Glen | 229 comments I’m a 1/4 of the way into The City of Mirrors by Justin Cronin. It’s the last of The Passage series and it’s actually pretty amazing. Probably not the best book series to read during a pandemic mind you but, I started into it pre-Covid-19.

I'm enjoying so far. I was nervous about the weird language but it's really not that bad. I'm able to glean most of it from the context.

Uk version. 21 chapters

Good! I think the original UK version leaves you with a very different, and far superior, message!

I read The Twelve just as the pandemic got started, definitely brought another dimension to the book.

by Aimée Thurlo, David Thurlo

A great mystery series!

message 8027: by Glen (new)

Glen | 229 comments One thing I am noticing with The City of Mirrors is the amount of character building for Tim Fanning ‘Zero’. This book more so than the previous two books reminds me more of King’s story telling. I’ve actually forgotten I’m reading a Passage trilogy book at this point and don’t mean that in a bad way.

Have you seen the movie A Clockwork Orange? If so, is it similar to the book?

Yes, that movie is based on Burgess's book. It's a hard watch because the violence is so blase and in your face, but it's incredibly well made and acted.

The movie follows the book fairly closely. In fact when they were filming the movie if there was questions about the story or what have you they would refer to the book instead of the script.

Erin (ems84) | 2661 comments I've watched the movie and yes, the violence is pretty brutal, not something I could watch again.

It sounds good, I didn't even know Romero was an author.

Gary | 229 comments I'm reading about Ezra Pound, the poet.
I hope to read some of his poetry. I became interest in Pound from a book called "The City of Falling Angels." I have read this book several years ago, and I have the audio cds of the book, too. Listening to cds is like rereading the book.
