This one did not live up to the hype for me. I was so upset by that; but I did enjoy it. I will look forward to your thoughts on this. Maybe I just don't "get it." ....mmmm

I really, really loved it. Now, if I could just figure out the arena......o_O

I loved this book more than I loved Interview with a Vampire. These witches were awesome. I hope you enjoy.
Finishing off W is for Wasted; it's all over the place, but so is Kinsey.... whaddya gonna do, right???For this long holiday weekend, I am reading nothing but short stories. I have neglected them for 3 months, so it's time. Besides, they're all horror!! :D
Kellie wrote: "Still reading The Gunslinger"If this is your first time reading it, then we, of your ka-tet, apologize. Just plow through it and get to the next book.
If you've read it before, then you know what to expect.... LOL. My subsequent readings have been much more pleasurable, because I get it now. Or, at least, I think I do. o_O
Good luck either way!!
Kellie wrote: "Still reading The Gunslinger"This book is very underrated..... The thing is, a lot of people who read the Dark Tower series only read it once and by the time they get through books 2 and 3, which are mind blowing, the Gunslinger ends up dropping a few notches on their like scale..... However, there is a lot going on in the Gunslinger that you are not meant to understand if you are reading the series for the first time. But, if you revisit this book after you complete the series, you will pick up on all the little things you missed and/or couldn't grasp during your first read and realize just how awesome the Gunslinger actually is..... Think of it like the first time you watched "Shutter Island" or "The Sixth Sense" (assuming you have)..... It is only after you rewatch those movies that you gain so much more information that you missed and their brilliance is truly revealed.... Those who have only seen those movies once cannot truly appreciate all the details that went into those films. Just my two cents.

I concur with your 2 cents, sir.
When I first read it, I was completely lost and just hated the book. It wasn't until I decided to not chuck the whole series and read book 2, that I realized the journey I was on. When I got to Wizards and Glass, I did a reread of The Gunslinger and enjoyed it much more. I have reread it a few times over the years and each time is much more rewarding, especially after completing the entire series.
*cries*
The Killer Collective by Barry Eisler. It’s off to a pretty good start.
Finally, my internet is back. Then again, without distractions I read a lot. Anyway, onto Fables & Reflections

Who Goes There?, original story that inspired The Thing. The 1982 movie with Kurt Russell was the best.

I agree, Wally. I was especially impressed by all the events that show up later in the series even though King hadn't written them until years later. He did go back and enhance the details for later editions. But the original version still has lots of amazing foreshadowing.

I read only the original version. Not sure what the newer edition contains but I would assume (view spoiler)
The Killer Collective by Barry Eisler. Another action thriller political adventure, but it’s pretty good.
Erin wrote: "Nancy wrote: "The House Next Door"How do you like it so far?"
I liked it. I finished last night.
I am about 60% through Ada, or Ardor: A Family Chronical - Vladimir Nabokov and am inching my way through The Complete Saki - Saki. I am on one of my classic lit kicks. When through I have Under the Dome and Needful Things waiting for me.
Just started the audiobook of CHRISTINE. This is maybe my fourth listen. It's always been one of my favorite King works. I'm also reading THE DEVIL IN THE WHITE CITY. True historic crime about a serial killer during the time of the Chicago Worlds Fair of the 1890s. Erik Larson is a master of dramatic historic storytelling though not one word is fiction.

Nick wrote: "Just started the audiobook of CHRISTINE. This is maybe my fourth listen. It's always been one of my favorite King works..."I'm listening to Christine on audiobook right now and it's my first time reading it. I'm about a third of the way through and loving it.
Julia wrote: "Just finished 11/22/63. What an excellent book! Loved it!"I always thought 11/22/63 was one of King's best, and the fact that it's one of his later novels answers critics who think that his early novels are the only good ones.
I just finished The Bands of Mourning, another wonderful chapter in this series. Now, there is only to wait the next book and it will never be too soon. :)
I just started The 7½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle. I've seen it on different shelves here, so I hope it will be a good reading.

I agree, Nick. One of his best and initially I was hesitant. Wondering how in the world he would pull it off. I am glad I was wrong.
I cried at the end.

Thank you for that Wally! I completely understand what you are saying.

Thanks Alondra!
I also cried out loud at the ending of 11-22-63; what do you know.... I just created COL.... And the whole story was simply awesome..
