What Are You Reading Now? Pt 2.

I've got a copy of The Devil and can't wait to get into it. I really enjoyed Larson's In The Graden of the Beasts. (Love, Terror and an American family in Hitler's Berlin). He writes great novelistic history.

It is, but it was like the first chapter from the book, so I may try to read another one if it becomes a freebie like that one. Of course, being the first chapter, it should draw you in.
Oh well.... :(
non king: I finished reading sick bastards last night (first time I read anything like it) stumbled into that book cuz of a goodread friend's review..finished it in one go..i am not recommending it to anyone.. just saying.King: i am halfway through Hearts in Atlantis and this one is a MASTERPIECE.
Mrityunjay wrote: "non king: I finished reading sick bastards last night (first time I read anything like it) stumbled into that book cuz of a goodread friend's review..finished it in one go..i am not recommending it..."Totally agree on "Hearts in Atlantis" one of King's best and most overlooked. There's always a debate about whether it is a collection of short stories or a single novel. In my mind, it's a single complete story (though the parts are loosely connected). I'd love to hear what you think about that, Mrityunjay, when you finish.
Thanks for the replies I shall take a look, Anyway thanks to insomnia I read Pierre Lemaitre Three days and a life in 2 days 4☆, now I've started The One by John Marrs and it's started really well
Nick wrote: "Mrityunjay wrote: "non king: I finished reading sick bastards last night (first time I read anything like it) stumbled into that book cuz of a goodread friend's review..finished it in one go..i am ..."Sure Nick!, I'd like that too. Well, I am a huge fan of 'Bazaar of Bad Dreams', there, the stories aren't connected but they share the darkness and horror. Right now, I am halfway through "Hearts in Atlantis" but as soon I finish it we'll discuss it. :)
Amy wrote: "Let The Right One In"I loved the book... wrote an entire novel based on the feelings it gave me.
Finished Beloved. Here's my review, not just my five-star rating. https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...The silence of the lambs by Thomas Harris . So far , really great .
I just finish The Dead Zone. It was okay but not my favorite by any stretch. I just started The Wasp Factory.
Just finished The One by John Marrs it's 3am and I'm never falling asleep after that! 5☆ absolutely brilliant, it's got to be in my top 5 of the year
Rhian wrote: "Just finished The One by John Marrs it's 3am and I'm never falling asleep after that! 5☆ absolutely brilliant, it's got to be in my top 5 of the year"Okay Rhian, since your recommendations have given me so many sleepless nights already, I'll give it a try.
Child of God by Cormac McCarthy
Rhian wrote: "My next read is The Passage by Justin Cronin it's a monster size book but I'm looking forward to it"I think the pacing was really good in this book once we get to the military installation. I love almost anything Vamp, and this was a really nice departure from the norm.
I hope you enjoy it.
I recently read Sacré Bleu, Abarat, and The Haunting of Hill House.I think I'm going to read Insomnia now.
Julia wrote: "Gary wrote: "Reading The Haunting of Hill House."How is it? The show was great!"IT'S TREMENDOUS. According to Mr. King one of the two great horror novels written in the 20th century, the other being Turn of the Screw.

It was wonderful.
The Queen of Bedlam by Robert McCammon
Just finished THE DARK TOWER VII. My second read and much better this time. I wasn't blasting through trying to figure out how it ended. I'll have a review up shortly. That famous first line of the series "The man in black fled across the desert and the gunslinger followed," prompted a search for other great first lines, and in doing so I found one of my next reads, Boy, Snow, Bird by Helen Oyeyemi, the first line: "Nobody ever warned me about mirrors, so for many years I was fond of them and believed them to be trustworthy." —Standby
I've never made a new years resolution but I'm going to make an effort to try the dark tower books next year, I think I have the first 4 of them
Rhian wrote: "I've never made a new years resolution but I'm going to make an effort to try the dark tower books next year, I think I have the first 4 of them"Rhian: you have to get through the first one. Just consider it a prologue; then they get better and better. 3, 4 & 5 are terrific. I like Wizard and Glass (#4) best of all King's books. Though he calls it a romance novel. But my new appreciation for Book 7 only came after my second reading of it... and it's over a thousand pages long.

btw, starting your book. not too bad, Nick. :)

Hey just finished Hearts in Atlantis. It was my first-time-read. And this book has become one of my favorite Stephen King's book . https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... here's my review.
Nick wrote: "Rhian: you have to get through the first one. Just consider it a prologue; then they get better and better. 3, 4 & 5 are terrific. I like Wizard and Glass (#4) best of all King's books. Though he calls it a romance novel. But my new appreciation for Book 7 only came after my second reading of it... and it's over a thousand pages long"I agree! An online friend encouraged me to try again after I read the first book, The Gunslinger I wasn't too impressed. She said I have to get through that first book, then it gets better and better. She was right! I re-read The Gunslinger, though it took me years to get around to it......
After that, I was hooked. My favorites were Drawing of the Three (#2), Wolves of the Calla (#5), Song of Susannah (#6), and The Dark Tower (#7). You can see I liked the second half of the series much better, except for #2.
Wizard and Glass, #4, was my least favorite along with the first one. Sorry, Nick, LOL. Different strokes for different folks! I thought #4 dragged too much, esp. when he was in Meji (spelling).
#7 was 1,000 pages long?! I didn't remember it being that long, but maybe cause I flew right through it! Another one of his books, Under the Dome, was over 1,000 pages but that one "felt" like 1,000 pages to me. This didn't!
Nick, do you mean you like #4 best in the DT books, or #4 best in his books period? :-) It sounds like the latter, but I wanted to be sure!
Just finished Dark Tower 7. My review is at: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...Currently listening to Boy, Snow, Bird and reading The One, by John Marrs.
