Kevin Hughlett | 4 comments @mrbooks - love that! And I agree. His old stuff is still his greatest. Pet Semetary was my first book of his and I had all the lights on in the house by the time I got done.

I took a look at Red Queen. It sounds good. Maybe I'll give it a read after I finish the hunger games trilogy. They seem similar.

We have those motion sensitive lights in my building but I'm glad I can't see them come on for no reason, LOL.

My sneakers have reflectors (I guess that's the name) on them, and in the dark they look like glowing eyes! I actually got up and threw a blanket over them, ha ha.

American Horror Story starts its new season tonight, and I always record it and watch it much earlier in the evening...The show has given me nightmares but I still watch!

As far as either scary books or scary screen stuff just before going to bed, my imagination is scarier than anything someone can put on the screen! Hence, those "bodachs" in the Koontz books....well I pictured them a certain way. I saw them in the Odd Thomas movie but they weren't as scary as what I imagined. :-)

Hey Wise Cat, I'm starting to collect these anecdotes about people's fear of the dark and horror books and movies. There's at least a short story there... maybe more.

Hilary | 3 comments I’m on to “Lisey’s Story” and finding it a bit confusing. I have the feeling that it’ll become clearer and clearer what’s going on; I had a similar feeling about The Dark Half, and it ended up being one of my favorites.

It is. I love stories about war, whether biographies, history or fiction. I really want to read When we were soldiers, I think it is; but the book that inspired the movie with Mel Gibson.

Haven't read that one but I did read, O'Brien's Going After Cacciato. WOW! that was something. It won the National Book Award... a goal that has constantly evaded Mr. King.
