Im not really into zombies but so far Im enjoying it.

Currently reading two mysteries, The Purity of Vengeance and Mortal Causes

If you have not started this wonderful fantasy series by Robin Hobb, then what are you waiting for??"
Sorry Alondra, I tried Robin Hobb and couldn't get on with her books.

Carrie, an excellent book.

Joyland is one of the great undiscovered King works... I think it's wonderful, liked the audiobook and took it on a family trip, everyone enjoyed it. Thought it's definitely not for little kids.

Well you know there's carnival life, murder, terror, a little sex, a guy who dresses up like a hound, pretty girls in green dresses carrying cameras, newspaper reading, some misrepresentation. I'm thinking a 32-year-old might be able to hand that. :-)

Nnooooo.... oh goodness. Well, sorry that it did not work for you; but hey; there are too many great authors and books out there, so not too great of a loss.... okay, it is to me. LOL
another one bites the dust.
*mourns loss*

Just because I don't like Hobbs, doesn't mean we can't talk. Sai King is my all time favorite and then you have Tolkien, Rowling, Straub, and don't forget Brooks. Have you read Nick's books yet?

This is definitely true. I love Tolkien. Straub I like when he is writing with King.
I only have Nick on my TBR, so I have not read him yet. I will, I will!! :)

Nancy I saw this and thought of a book I read as a kid called the forgotten door, got confused for a second LOL.

Too funny!

Wow! If your following mrbooks recommendations you're going to read about witches. I hope you like hardcore bloody horror.

Yes, I do. Like many horror fans, I am kinda immune and don't get scared. I love good, creepy stories. :)
Thanks for responding Nick!

I have to tell you that I'm afraid of the dark. My wife was out of town for two weeks and I didn't dare watch Castle Rock late at night. I preferred mid-afternoon. "How do you think I'll be able to protect you?" she asked me when I finally explained it all to her. And I just said, "Hey, one sane person in the house is probably all it takes."

I am immune as well and don’t get scared.

Me too.....usually. :-) I've been watching or reading horror since I was a kid. BUT those Odd Thomas books by Dean Koontz are too scary to read at night sitting up in bed, LOL!!
I just read a couple so far, but those "bodachs" scared me so much I couldn't sleep for hours! I kept thinking they were lurking about, and the shadows in my room from furniture and such freaked me out!

Glad to hear I'm not alone in this though I do read horror at night, just don't watch movies or TV shows late. It's those crazy noises in the kitchen that get the most alarming. Ice makers may have actually caused some heart attacks. And we have motion-activated lights out front that just come on sometimes for no reason at all... maybe.

Bwahahaha…. I hear you on that. The last movie to scare me was one of the paranormal activity movies.... it just freaked me out for some reason. Maybe, because I could not really "see" what was terrorizing them. The only book that still freaks me out is Salems Lot, in the Marsten Basement... *shudders*….

I have read Stephen King since I was 13, along with Dean Koontz, Peter Benchley, etc. and the list goes on. Only a few movies cause me to jump, and they have to be really scary.. usually I just roll my eyes... or worse, laugh.

I started reading King at age 12. Then came Saul, Benchley, Koontz etc. they used to scare me but not anymore. Now, the book has to at least keep me on the edge of my seat and a page turner. Otherwise, I can get bored reading books that are supposed to be scary.

Yep, same. I haven't read Saul in years. I like Bentley Little. His are fun.

#1 scariest passage, The opening of Cujo with the kid and the monster in the closet. Of course, you maybe had to be a kid with a big closet in the bedroom... and a monster.

I have this book but haven’t read it yet. I hope you like it."
Me too, I really liked The Girl on the Train.

LOL! Yes, til this day, I make my husband close the bathroom and closet doors in the bedroom before we go to sleep. My dog is at the end of the bed and roams the house to protect me.... I am not playing with creepy...

Then, finally "A Dance With Dragons" by GRRM.

I am nearing the end, maybe 50 pages left at this point. I am looking forward to seeing where the storylines with the little boy and with the Horror House go... I have the feeling that they are going to intersect soon. I didn't realize how recently it was published; from the cover of my own copy, I assumed that it was older.

I don't know a couple of scenes in It are dam terrifying to me. And walking through the Lincoln Tunnel like Larry did was dam scary as well especially when he stepped on that hand.

Having waited about 8 years to re-read The Stand I have to say the most vivid part of the book was that trip through the Lincoln Tunnel. with Larry. Masterful!
